This tool works perfectly for crimping Oetiker style clamps, which in my case were on a European car. I absolutely hate this style of clamp, but I do not regret buying the official tool to properly crimp them since they are expensive and tempermental.

It will only work with 35 mm or less clamp's diameter. For bigger that 35 mm oetiker clamp's diameter or heavy duty clamps you need to get something else.

I had to replace the CV boots on my VW Passat. VW’s OEM clamps were also Oetiker. I ordered new Oetiker clamps and tried to use clamp pliers from O’Reilly. The clamp pliers from O’Reilly took way too much force and they snapped into multiple pieces before I could complete my first crimp. They were complete garbage.I ordered these Oetiker pliers for about the same price and it was a completely positive experience. It took so much less force to get a clean crimp using these pincers. I never felt like these pliers were going to snap under pressure like the O’Reilly pliers did. Very solid construction. Lesson learned: use the right tool for the job.
