Looks like a good surf shirt but fits way loose compared to comparable sized surf shirts. Returned due to loose fit and sizing.

This is a must if you are going to be going to a place like the Bahamas or anywhere you expect to have extreme UV exposure. The material is very soft to the skin and it wicks water away like it's nothing. I'm glad I Didn't buy the knock off or I'm sure I would've been uncomfortable.

I bought this just before my Hawaii trip. Initially I had one more SPF and rash-guard vest which was too tight, whereas this product fit me just right, a tad short on the sleeves but it's ok. I used it for snorkelling, swimming and continue to use it for swimming in Nor-cal. Happy with this product so far. It seems to be helping against the sun, which was my primary purpose for buying it.

I love this shirt. Normally I wear large shirts but prefer XL for comfort and less form fitting around my waist. I was going to a water park and wanted sun protection and a loose sun shirt for comfort and looks. I ordered the Black XL [I'm 5'9", 184 lbs, 43 chest] and it arrived same day. The package was small and light but I found the shirt to be durable and well made with strong fabric. I love the O'niell logo too. This shirt kept me cool as the water evaporated, acting like a wick, drawing away the 90+ degree day heat. It is long-sleeve. I would say this, with those temps, as long as you stay wet you're great. If not, it can hold your body heat and certainly make you heat up. Other than that, I looked good in it, my love handles were hidden and I walked around with confidence at the water park! NO SUN BURN !!! Work perfectly and I didn't have to put lotion all over my body and worry about re-applying all the time. This shirt provided total sun protection!

This is my second O'Neill rashguard/swim shirt and it is top quality (one is short sleeve, and now this LS). There is a lot of variance in customer comments about fit and effectiveness, so here is my experience. I typically wear a size Large or sometimes XL depending on the brand/cut. SIZE/FIT: A Carhart cotton t-shirt size Large fits me loosely, while a Riggs t-shirt size Large is snug but still fits. I bought this O'Neill rash guard shirt as a 2XL hoping it would fit a bit loose and it does. A Large for me in the O'Neill would be tight and form fitting, not quite a compression fit. An XL would be better for a snug fit for swimming laps, etc. But I like the looser fit of the 2XL as a beach shirt that also works fine for casual swimming. So I would think you probably want to buy one size larger than your normal t-shirt size for the same type of fit. Buy your regular size for a near-compression fit. And buy two sizes larger for a loose fit.EFFECTIVENESS: I've worn this O'Neill shirt swimming in a pool for three hours in mid-day summer sun (95 degree F) with zero burning and hardly even any additional tan. I am fair skinned with freckles so sensitive to sunburn. On my face I liberally coated with SPF 50 sunscreen and it got very tanned, almost but not quite red. BUT, underneath the O'Neill shirt I was totally protected, much better than the SPF 50 sunscreen. Our grandkids wear O'Neill rashguard shirts at the ocean beach and play all afternoon without sunburn on shoulders or backs. These are also great for swimming or beach strolling when the temperature dips and the wind picks up and provide a little more warmth than just bare skin.QUALITY: These have lasted for a long time for our grandkids. Since they stretch a lot they have worn the same ones for three years while still growing, in both chlorine pools and ocean saltwater. The seams are well sewn and non-irritating, though not totally flat. It is a very tight weave and I've never seen them get snagged or torn at the beach or pool. It has a slick texture. I'm sure every brand has a small percentage of errors that slip through, but the six or so that we have bought have all been top quality in materials and construction.

I like this shirt very much. I am 42 with an average build, not too fit, not too flabby. I am also a red head so I do not tan and burn easily. I love to throw this shirt on when I am not in the water, or for water oriented play like beach volleyball, whitewater rafting or just hanging out around the pool. I like the white because goes with everything and seems cooler than the darker fabrics. This is the second white O'Neill "not tight fitting" rash hard shirt that I have purchased. My first one is kind of a dingy white now and I still wear it, but I wish I would have done a better job separating colors when I washed it last year. Beware - these shirts are pretty susceptible to "redep" . Redep is re-depositing soils, oils, greases, dirt and fabric dyes across a wash load. Wash it separate or with unsoiled other "whites" if you want it to stay bright in color. I am pretty sure that throwing it in the wash with other dark and bright colored swim suits changed mine from "bright white" to white with a hint of gray.
