Image sensor in this device works well with and without ambient light. IR illuminator power can be adjusted in several steps starting with 0. Buttons are backlit, but you can turn off the hardly visible blue backlight with blue light to attract less attention. Even though animal eyes glow on camera images they do not see infrared illuminator ray. People can use infrared sensitive cell phone cameras to spot your position, but again you can shut off the illuminator completely and still see a darker image as the camera is extremely sensitive to ambient infrared. Camera takes good quality high resolution images, but you need to adjust the diopter manually to get the sharp pics. You can apply retro green or thermal infrared filters. There is also a digital image enhancer that improves contrast in low light conditions. I also received 32 GB micro SD card, USB-C charging cable, shoulder strap and nice soft carrying bag.
