I use this light underground for my caving videos. It works really well in the dark, damp cave environment and provides a very nice lighting for my videos.

I'm using this for creating content at night in the rain. It's not as bright as one of my studio lights, but I cannot take those out into the rain. I plan to go on a snorkling trip soon and I also wanted to use this for that, but I have not yet had a chance to fully submerge it but I'm sure it will be fine. It is heavy and extremely well made, and I am quite impressed with it!

This Neewer underwater light is fantastic! It's advertised as a diving light, because it's IP68 rated so can fully be submerged for long periods of time. However, I'm not a diver, I'm a filmmaker, so I'm going to review more from that perspective. The WP12 is heavy, it's metal and feels REALLY solid! It's quite minimal in design, with the large COB light, a plastic cover which allows you to securely place the included plastic gels or the slightly frosted grey plastic (more on those later), and it's got an on off button which doubles as a mode button (effects or solid light), brightness up and down buttons, and a button which either cylces between effects when you're in effect mode, or press and hold to see battery level. The battery is built in, lasting aroudn 90 minutes depending on conditions such as temperature. Or it can last way longer at lower brightnesses of course! The output is absolutely awesome, feels really bright, literally blinding to look directly at without a diffuser! So I was super impressed with that, it's great having so much punch in a tiny light! The other thing in the carry case kit is a charging cable (which is some sort of magnetic connection, I guess to prevent water getting in a charging port). with USB A the other end. It includes the plastic gel holder/protective cover I mentioned, and a silicone diffuser. It also includes two orange, two blue, a red and a green gel. The paler orange and blue seem to be colour temperature, to take it from 5500 to 3200 kelvin roughly (although it seems more of a yellowish orange than normal tungsten), and the blue one taking it colder to maybe 7000 kelvin (that's a guess!), then there's the saturated orange and blue which are more like sterarro gels, for actually making it feel like a strong colour. And the red and green are also strong saturated gels. There's nothing to stop you using your own gel of course, as you could place one under the frosted plastic in the gel holder. or even stick to the outside. Be careful not to melt the gel though, because that would be very close to the light source so would be risky with darker gels! The included diffuser is a slight let down - it's great for using as a catch light, however the silicone seems to be slightly warm tinted so the light feels a lot warmer than without it. I think it's hard making a totally neutral white diffuser, but this feels like it warms it up a significant amount. It also feels a little loose, it stays on when I shake it around a bit but I wouldn't want to use it underwater honestly! Whereas the plastic cover is much more secure so I'd feel very happy using that underwater!Personally I'd have liked to lose some output but have bicolour instead, as I feel the included correction gels aren't quite accurate enough nor are they labelled as to what they're meant to be. But if you need a light you can take out in the rain and literally throw into a swimming pool etc to get the shot you want, this is a great option! I feel like as a filmmaker there are other options I'd get before the Neewer WP12, as I don't often need submergable, so a weatherproof rgbw light would be a better option for me, but if you do underwater shoots regularly this is a great option for sure!

The fact that it is IP68 waterproof and can withstand being submerged in water up to 33ft/10m deep is great for diving, snorkeling, or other underwater activities. Additionally, the inclusion of a ball head makes it easy to mount the light on your camera or other equipment for hands-free use.The light output of 2600lux/0.5m (Mode: BOOSTER) is impressive and should provide ample illumination for your underwater shots. The fact that it has a high color rendering index (CRI97+) and Television Lighting Consistency Index (TLCI98+) is also a great feature, as it means that the colors in your shots will be accurate and true to life. The 5 Effects feature is a nice addition, as it allows you to customize the light output to match your specific needs and preferences. This can be especially useful for different types of underwater environments or lighting conditions. The fact that it has a 1900mAh battery and magnetic charging is also a great feature, as it means you can easily recharge the light between uses and never have to worry about running out of power.Overall, if you are a photographer or videographer looking for a high-quality and versatile underwater diving light, the WP12 seems like a great option. However, it is important to note that it is always a good idea to do your own research and read reviews from other customers before making a purchase.

Wow! this LED light did surprise me with its powerful brightness under water!I don't do diving but do a lot of snorkeling here in Hawaii and my previous water proof LED light was so tiny that it did help to have a little lighting during the filming, but not much.Once I got this NEEWER underwater LED light, it did change the game!It is little bit bulkier and heavy, but that is not a problem for me if I can get this much light under the water! The battery last pretty good too. So no complaints at all. Love the product

This light is built really well. It has an all metal housing that is bolted together with (I assume) gasketed facings to assure water tightness. It only puts out one color temperature, but it is designed to take gels to accommodate different lighting conditions. With no gels and at its highest setting, I measured the light output at 1750 lux at 0.5m and 500 lux at 1m. In "boost mode", the light output I measured was about 2550 lux at 0.5m and 750 lux at 1m. I found that to be pretty impressive for a light in this small of a package. The light does get a bit warm (120F), especially after running in boost mode. If you are diving with it, the heat doesn't matter as much, but when being air cooled, you'll want to keep a little space around it. This light can be used while charging, but you can't get full brightness while doing so.Learning how to adjust the light was not immediately obvious to me, but the included manual explained how to use it very clearly and concisely. The light has a few "effects" built into it, but I found them to be kind of anemic and unlikely to ever be used. In addition to the color gels, the light also comes with a rubber diffusion cover that softens the light but also attenuates it too much to be useful in my opinion.Overall, this is a nice piece of equipment that I'll definitely be using in my studio.

The following is a review of the NEEWER WP12 Underwater Diving Light. It comes in a cardboard box with the light in its own zipped carry type case which also holds assorted accessories such as colour filters, light defuser, a ball and socket head, and dedicated magnetic charging lead plus instructions. It quoted as being waterproof to 33ft (10m) so is IP68 rated for such depths although in my case I am using it as a light for my camcorder for covering sport/outdoor type events as the sudden changes in weather and light conditions are never to be taken for granted, more so at this time of the year. The control buttons are well laid out and easy to use - see photos. I have tried it out with the assorted colour filters - I dropped it on a yarn type rope in a large water tank (gave a bystander bit of a surprise to see me do it though) but yes, it does work okay underwater - I was slightly sceptical to be honest before I switched it on and submerged it but it does indeed work as quoted. There is ¼ tripod thread in the base, dead in the middle, and by using the supplied ball and socket head, fits my camcorder okay, which I have rain-jacket for anyway. The actual light output can be varied and gives a very good spread of light, more so considering the unit size. Overall a very versatile but importantly, waterproof light that really does work

This unit is well made and durable and the controls are easy to use. I do not do much diving but wanted a submergible light for some other photography work that I am doing and this one is perfect!I have been buying NEEWER products for years and have never had any issues with their gear and this light is no exception! Superior performance and totally waterproof.

I am not testing this as a diving light, because that isn't what I needed it for, but given that it is IP68 waterproof, it should be able to enhance your underwater shots. It says it is waterproof to 10 metres or 33 feet, however, reading about an IP68 rating it says that it is 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes, so in reality I am not sure of the depth, but think this would be used more for snorkelling. Either way I would suggest careful testing of it when using it under water. If using underwater, I think you would need to decide what effect you were looking for before using it as I feel changing light filters or adding the diffuser would be less easy underwater than above it. However accessing the lighting modes is easy enough, so that would be easy to change. As a studio light this would be ideal. For amateur photographers such as myself, I find this a good supplementary light to use instead of my flash in certain situations. The light comes with a collection of six CTO (colour temperature orange) / CTB (colour temperature blue) gel filters, plus a red and a green filter, there is also a white diffuser. these help you with effects and colour correction. There is a cold shoe attachment so that you can fix the light to the top of your camera too. The light has different brightness levels and a boost button as well, this really does flood an area with some additional light. There are five lighting effects, these effects are essentially flashing of the light at different speeds and frequencies, the effects are Lightning, TV, Paparazzi, Faulty Bulb, and Fireworks. These effect are supposedly for enhancing video productions, I can see how this would be true, but as I am not a videographer, I cannot comment on their effectiveness. As with all Neewer products that I have had however, the quality is outstanding, well made and solid, and it comes in its own little zipped case for protection. I think that £69.99 seems a fair price to pay.

This is a surprisingly handy piece of kit that allows not only illumination for underwater photography but also can serve to illuminate under the water for above water photography. This can give some quite extraordinary effects - especially as the light comes with a filter-holder and a selection of coloured filters to give a variety of effects. However, the waterproofing comes at a price, the unit is quite heavy and whilst it can be attached to a camera it will have a more dramatic affect on balance than a regular flash unit. Using magnetic charging technology the unit can be easily charged and there is no compromise to the waterproofing. Excellent use of modern charging technology. The unit comes with a complete set of coloured filters, including a diffuser, and a simple and easy way to install them. Interestingly, NEEWER have included a rather solid ball-head mount with the light so that it can be fitted to a hot or cold shoe on a camera or it can be fitted onto a tripod/cage. Hats off to NEEWER for that, no need to buy an extra to be able to use the light. Of course, there is a magnetic charging cable included as well. All of this comes in a zip-up impact-resistant case with a wrist strap so you are getting value for your money - something which one has come to expect from this company. The unit is noticeably well made and really has the feel of something solid and reliable. The light has several brightness levels as well as some effects, which, to be honest, I have no real need for but for those that do there are an array of buttons and lights on the top to help you adjust the light. This light is equally at home sitting on a tripod in a vlogging studio as it is out on the road on location.Quality product at a reasonable price - recommended.

Neewer is a well known budget brand, but they make some high end gear too. This is a solid built light for underwater.Only thing I don't like/care for is that the color filters; who wants to be carrying those around. Having it built-in would have been better.I guess it's better than nothing and nice to have.
