I bought this to protect my backpack from getting soaked during my commute, and on occasion, my camera backpack. It's easy to set up and packs away in a small built-in pouch. These come in different sizes so measure accordingly before buying.

I bought the "extra-small" size for a small backpack (16"H x 12"W x 8"D). I was hoping "extra-small" wasn't too small, but once I received it, I saw it was actually bigger than I expected, and plenty big for my needs. I used it on a recent vacation where it rained pretty good a couple times, and it kept my backpack and all contents (cameras, maps, etc.) dry. It was easy to carry and easy to put on and take off. I'm a little paranoid and was slightly worried about the cover slipping off the upper part of my backpack straps. So I actually used the cover upside-down, and wrapped its attached stuff-sack through a backpack strap at the top of my pack to make sure it didn't fall off. It seemed to work well that way for me. For the price, quality, and function, I'm very happy with this product.

I needed to get a larger rain cover for my backpack and this has certainly done the trick! When I put it the cover on the nylon fabric covers all of my backpack and the pull string makes it so regardless of whatever shape my backpack takes it keeps wrapped and snug! When I don't need it, it is very easy to roll up and stow away and takes up very little room.And of course it keeps everything perfectly dry!Update: Since my purchase it has endured a 30 day backpacking trip (2013) and a 70 day backpacking trip (2016) and has worked like a charm, with no signs of wear and tear.

Grabbed this before an 8-day backpacking trip and it worked perfectly with my Gregory Z55. We got nailed with rain a couple of days and it kept my pack bone dry.Packs down small, it is made of great materials. I expect nothing less from Mountainsmith, as they're a solid company.Great bang for your buck, highly recommended.

I purchased a non-name brand hydropack back in June, and it got soaked in tge rain tge first time I used it, leaving my camera damp and the other contents soggy. I decided to buy a backpack cover for it, and began my hunt soon after I got home from my trip. Tge first one I tried was a non-name brand, and not only was the drawstring sewn into the lining, but it ripped first use and was ten sizes too large for my pack. To top it off, it refused to stay on my bag, as it's more backpack styled than hiking styled, and had nothing to put it in after each use. I returned that one and put so e thorough research into purchasing a backpack cover for my bag. I initially went for Osprey, but this brand is as high quality and is just as effective at a lower cost. The bag is fantastic! It stays right on my pack, it's effective at keeping the water out, the little pouch with it is incredibly handy and doesn't trap water in if you put it away wet, and the drawstring is fantastic. I rate this five out of five stars for an amazing product! Great buy!

I can't say enough good things about this rain cover. I ordered this in a small size to cover my Oakley Panel Pack. I'll have t say that the sizing chart given by the reviewers in the question area was correct. The size chart given in the product description was wrong, not by much, but still wrong. So, thanks to that reviewer in the questions section for the updated size chart.The size small is huge but, that just means that it will accomodate a large variety of packs and will cover any of those odd pockets or straps that are on your pack. I really like how it will fold up into itself (a self-contained pocket). The draw string/shock chord at the bottom of the cover will ensure that you pack is covered and will stay covered. I've not had a single problem with this cover coming off of my pack regardless of how long I wear the pack or how I wear it or shift it.I like this product so well that I purchased two of them just in case something is to happen to the one I use everyday. I have tested this in s few different weater conditions: slow steady rain, torrential down pour, and heavy/wet snow. This cover handled every condition with flying colors; not a single part of my pack got wet and especially good, nothing inside the pack got wet. Even if your pack is waterproof or water resistant, I highly suggest that you get some sort of waterproof cover for your pack. Coatings, that are usually on packs, will eventually fail.

Once you get past the sizing issue (size listed on Amazon product page are not the correct sizes!), the protector is pretty good. I needed an XS for a small day-pack, and the price was great, clocking in at $16 with free Prime shipping. The protector is excellent for this price range. It's completely water proof and has a cinch that allows you to adjust size. The cinch cord is really high quality too, and feels like it wont wear away very easily over time from tightening/loosening it again and again. The material of the cover itself seems less apt for resistance to repeated insult. I have a feeling it may be the first thing to go on this product... but as it goes with everything, you should expect to get what you pay for. In this case, I am expecting a few good months of usage before I need to replace it; right on par with it's extremely affordable price point.The only thing I don't really like about the pack (and this is really being finicky) is the bright yellow emblem on the outside of the cover. It blares vividly when I'm out in the wilderness, and I much prefer subtler tones when I'm out in the wild, but for $16 (compared to $40 at my local REI), it's hard to complain.I very much recommend this rain cover, BUT MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE CHECK THE TRUE SIZES! I had to return my first cover, because the sizing was incorrect!
