After an exhaustive search of the Broadcom site, can't find drivers for this card. Found every other model, just not this one. Meanwhile RAID array that reports good in the card's BIOS is invisible to Windows.I suspect the software that should have been included with this card would resolve the issue but wasn't in the box.

Card arrived quickly, was already flashed to newest firmware and had all “advanced” features (FastPath, CacheCade) enabled.

If you lose one Hard Drive, rebuild it and everything good.Alarm will go every time you restart until you rebuild the entire VD.What a nightmare design.Cant disable it as you wont get any alarm even real ones. You have to silence the alarm after every restart! or rebuild prodaction server VD.Stay away from this card!

When the card works - it's perfect! Unfortunately, I got one in a custom-built T7600 and one day my machine started beeping out loud while using it (at first I thought it was my APC UPS). My Dell was under warranty, so I called up Dell - it wasn't them. It took me hours to find out how to disable the LSI siren. A day to find out how to do it permanently. Why? Because I couldn't get into the web GUI. So, I managed to work through their archaic CLI to rebuild my Volume since all 8 of my SATA drives were perfect ... however, I had to reinstall my entire operating system. Ran nicely for another week, until I walk in the room and 'no boot device found.' I reboot and the card says the drives containing the original volume are not found. All 8 of my cards are perfect ... but no volume. Do I want to spend another week rebuilding so I can do it again next week? And the week after? Of course not. All the while I opened a service ticket with Avago Tech but by the time they got back to me days later, I was already underway with rebuilding. So, they wanted pictures of the card, because the S/N I provided was ... incorrect? So, I sent them pictures. "We need an original bill of sale" they said ... so I asked, seeing as how I didn't shoplift this from a web-page - but suspecting it was related to the sticker I had only just seen on it about being 'Certified Reutilized Part' (obviously, somebody failed): did they suspect it was a chinese knock-off?"No, it's that our cards don't have fans on them." Now, I sure as hippies smell didn't add a fan - and neither did the person who built the machine: it appears to have come from the vendor who sold it to him. My response to Avago Tech again is "are you suggesting that your cards running hotter is better?"Plain and simply, this is an LSI card, not a 'Mark' card, and I can guarantee you I would never buy another one again. I don't need ANY MORE grief, and no more weeks rebuilding what is otherwise a super computer. I currently have a battery-backed-up p.o.s., until this is all sorted out.

We have at least 11 of these actual controllers in our server cluster over a three year period. We use them with VMware Version 5.5.x because they are fully supported by VMware tech support. The only surprise is that you have to configure the Virtual Disks through the Web-BIOS, which is only available during POST. I have seen that some people have found a way to run the LSI GUI based configuration utility from inside a VM running on the same host where the controller is installed; but this is not a supported configuration and can lead to serious consequences. That method is only suitable for non-production use, which makes it useless to us.Overall, an extremely reliable, very fast controller. The NLQ depth is 960, which is very high. It is also fully compatible with VMware VSAN 5.5.0.
