I haul my JD2025R compact tractor with this trailer. I use rugged tie downs to secure the tractor. I always set the safety chains for all loads. Hooks are normal big box store fit and finish. Price is same as big box store. It is nice they have the g70 embossed on them to make them legal for the transport chains I intend to use them with.

Galvanized Group 70 hooks with spring gates and pin shackles for 1/4" chain. The hooks are forged and surface peened, with an annealed galvanic coating, and are embossed "G70" and "1/4" during forging. The measured image in the Amazon listing is correct by my tape measure.Overall finish is good. The gate springs feel reliable. Shackle pins secured by split pin. These hooks are ready to go to work lifting, pulling, binding down loads, and as trailer safety chain hooks.4.5/5 - good value in a good pair of hooks, would buy again

These safety chain hooks work well. They are large enough to fit into most vehicle slots for towing without issue. The safety clasp keeps them in place and are easy to undo when dropping your trailer. The pins that keep the hooks artached are easy to use and secure very well. These could be used on binder chains for a variety of uses as well. Well worth getting.

This review is for the ¼ inch version of this clevis slip hook. It includes the safety latch. I needed these hooks for a project and the 12,600 lb. capacity should be more than adequate. I combined them with a length of Grade 70 ¼ inch chain. But I determined that 5/16 inch chain should also fit on the hooks if the extra capacity is needed.In addition to general purpose lifting and pulling, these hooks would work well on trailer safety chains, especially since they have safety latches. With a current price of less than $10 on Amazon, a pair of these hooks is a good deal.

Just so happens , I was in a pickle trying to adjust a homemade crane, i ise on ground to pull engine out of my car. Its from a tow truck boom. Its 15' tall well over 1000 pounds and the 2 legs are hinged with a piece of rebar. I use flat bed tie downs and chains on legs back to boom for raising and lowering. Well, a leg kicked out on me while my back was only thing under boom. Only chain I could reach had no ends.. the box with these hooks were behind me on hood of car. Used chain to slap box off hood, and chain fishing, got the box to my foot, which I managed to hacky-sack the box where I could open it, and use hooks to temporary hold the leg back and taking the weight off my back. Was intense... but I didn't break anything. Sore as one would imagine.. story is not about me, its about these hooks. And these hooks worked perfect. I could have let it fall. But would have destroyed one of 2 cars its inbetween.. . So these really saved the day.DANKA
