Pros: Nice large 20" square, enough to protect wood while soldering copper pipe with a propane torch. Controls heat well.Cons: None, it is perfect for what it is made for.NOTE: Not suitable for arc welding or oxyacetylene torch which could possibly burn through this. Not recommended for welding applications, it is designed for solder work.Summary: Well worth the investment if you are a diy home repair kind of guy or plumber.

I must admit, I was a bit hesitant as it feels like a piece of scrap from a fabric store (compared to the old timer fiberglass mat). I thought for sure I had been duped. If I were a gambling man, I would have lost that bet for sure. It works very well. It’s extremely lightweight and flexible. One might miss the traditional metal grommet that’s typical on the fiberglass mats as that was a nice way to carry it around hands free.Time will tell on longevity. I’m a bit apprehensive that it may start fraying and fall apart with use, but again…hopefully I’ll lose that bet as well.

This is so amazing! It's completely changed my set up with its heat resistance. I'm no longer concerned about accidentally getting something too hot. It's a large sheet. Perfectly formed. Very clean looking. I'm tempted to cut part of it to create a small stove. I am really happy to have this for use with my torches.💙

I don’t think any blanket that is 20” square should be characterized as “large” as the seller describes this one. It is the size of a good size linen dinner napkin or a pigmat, but it seems to be fireproof enough for my purposes. Occasionally I have to weld near something that I don’t want to catch fire and for my needs this works fine.

For a large welding blanket I did find it a bit small but it is pretty thick and works well. I had an exhaust that needed welding, I set the blanket up against the gas tank and it worked well at keeping the sparks from hitting the tank.

This review is for Large Welding Blanket 20" x 20" Tested by SGS Fireproof Pad, 5mm Welders Mat, Carbon Felt Cloth Insulation Flame Retardant Fabric, Heat Shield for Soldering Brazing Glass Blowing Grill Stove PitThis blanket measures about 20"x20" and is about 3/16" thick. The material is felt like and very pliable.I tested this with an oxy-acetylene torch. It protected the test object very well . The blanket itself glowed as the torch passed across it and there was a little smoke,. The growing stopped immediately and the smoke stopped when the flame was removed. There was no damage to the blanket, other than a slight change in the surface texture. Repeated applications of flame yielded the same results. This is an effective way to protect objects near the area being welded . Recommended.

I was imagining a cloth that I could drape over flammable objects to protect them from sparks, but this thing is pretty small. It does have a use placed on an inappropriate table to turn it into an impromptu welding surface. I know that that is probably a terrible idea, but the need arose and the cloth did protect the thin metal mesh table surface. It is more plush than I expected, which gives it a cushiony feel, but it does lay out mostly flat, without curling. I'm glad to have it in the bag of tricks. Thumbs up.

This is literally a felt blanket, which feels very flammable, so as soon as I got it, I tested it by immediately blowtorching it at max power from a couple inches away in my kitchen. To my surprise, it is indeed fire resistant! The fibers glowed red-hot and it smoked a little but it did not ignite. Should work well for welding/plasma cutting since I shouldn't often be directly torching it purposefully.
