Very warm, comfy and sturdy. I would prefer SLIGHTLY longer ties.

I’ve now worn these boots several times. They are comfortable and they keep my feet warm and dry. During the warm weather they did not seem too hot. The traction also seems quite decent.

This is my third pair of these hikers. I use them to hike as well as walk miles of country roads and ravines to do litter pickup. They are lightweight, waterproof, and have a great cushiony feel with excellent traction and ankle support, much appreciated for using in wet, uneven, unstable terrain. They move with your feet yet provide enough support that I can stay active on my feet much longer than I could with even a lightweight trail runner. The height provides ankle protection from sharp objects. I do have at least a half dozen of this brand’s trail runners too since they are perfect for a little more stable terrain. Pair them with a densely woven merino wool sock and get the right sized boot (at least 1-1 1/2 thumb width from toe while standing. I always leave room for thicker socks and for my feet to swell as is normal when on them for awhile) for an instant, no-break-in needed experience. (I use Darn Tough socks, made in Vermont, perfect height and never a blister.) These tend to fit many widths of feet but if you are extra wide at the toe then they might not provide a good fit for you. TIP: Play with the lacing, skip grommets where you need extra room, snug them up in other areas, and adjust until you get a good feel for your feet. If you’re new to higher boots, you can tie off at the ankle joint until you feel more comfortable and they loosen up a bit. Then tie up another grommet pair and so on until you have the full support you’re looking for.

I did three hikes with this boot so far. The first two hikes I didn’t wear insoles. The last hike, I tried insoles. The first two hikes didn’t hurt my feet nor did I get blisters. But blisters really come when you have incorrect socks so get moisture-wicking hiking socks. The third hike, I wore insoles because I was going close to 9k feet up in elevation. My toe’s, where I hit the point the most, and the heel of my feet started hurting after an ascent and decent of almost 9k feet in elevation on the way up and back and that was a few feet away from the parking lot, which is a given. I didn’t get any blisters. I didn’t slip or roll. I thought half a size up for room for my toes or if my feet ended up swelling. They weren’t great for climbing, as I did a rock scramble to the top, but they gripped the rock nonetheless. This is the most comfortable boot I’ve owned so far. Thank you! Let’s see how many miles I put in!

If you’re looking for a well made, supportive but extremely light weight boot, search no more. I bought my first pair of these at REI 5 years ago for hunting/hiking & I’ll never buy another brand. These are the only boots I can wear all day, up & down rugged terrain & not develop sore tired feet. I mean, they are stunningly light for a boot! You get what you pay for here folks. These are worth every penny.

I'm hard to fit due to a narrow heal and out of the box, great fit. No pain after hours of wearing them. Enjoy!
