I Have been using cane reeds since I started on sax. I tried a couple of synthetic brands on the market but went back to cane reeds. The cane reeds I used are working well but need more care and have a shorter life. I have read blogs boasting the Legere reeds. Preparation to play is much more simple, easier to adjust, and although quite expensive to purchase, the Legere Signature, and Studio Cut size #2 work so well with my alto Sax.

Going to replace it, but giving it a five star because every experience I had matched the description perfectly.

It’s my first synthetic reed purchase.I do actually find it easier to use and obviously we’ll see how long it lasts?Heard some good reports so we’ll see.Happy with purchase. 👍

Doesn’t have to be broken in, doesn’t get waterlogged, doesn't split, you don’t end up with bad reeds in a box. This is one good reed with a case and it’s awesome. I played a 2.5 cane reed, but went down to a 2. I’ve recommended it to my friends.

I play these reeds on all of my saxophones, baritone sax to soprano sax, and have totally satisfied with the uniformity in strength and quality of sound from reed to reed. Once you establish the reed type and strength for your particular needs, Legere reeds are reliably uniform. I have been using them for years, and have no desire to return to natural reeds from any producer.

I got this for my 5th grader because every time he tucked his saxophone over his shoulder he clipped his Reed and it killed me a little every time. His private instructor uses this brand. They sound great and keep me from buying a new reed every time he plays while he learns how not to be careless.

I got this as a beginner on sax. I tried a few cane reeds, and didn't much like them, so I got this instead. Some advantages to the Legere reed:+ Sounds very good, but the sound is a little different than cane. This is a little darker (slightly less overtones). Though you get a bit better tone.+ One reed lasts quite a long time (months vs days) and keeps a fairly consistent sound over it's life span. Though eventually it'll wear out and sound a little flatter as the plastic loses it's crispness and becomes more flexible (this takes a long time).+ Durable, won't easily chip or bend, and does not deform over time (it won't get "married to the mouthpiece" easily).+ Wetting is not required, so it's always ready to play+ Easy to clean and dries quickly, so it can be stored on the mouthpiece right after a wipe down. No trimming, filing, or fussing required.+ Less porous and more hygienic, as it does not harbor bacteria, fungus, particles, etc. like cane.+ The backside of the reed is smooth, so it won't cut into your lip like cane can. Some disadvantages:- A single reed is more expensive than a set of cane reeds, though it will probably last you longer than 20 "playable" canes and is much more cost effective over time.- Some players may not like difference in sound it produces.- Doesn't come with a storage sleeve/case. For 20-30$ it really should come with a hard plastic sleeve, but most people will have one already.- The strength is not printed. It is a removable sticker.- Strength for the alto studio reeds run about 0.2 lower than you would expect (a 2 is more like a 1.75 or 1.8)The signature series should be a bit closer to cane than the studio.

This reed works great. The tone quality increases each time used. Very solid choice from the traditional wood reed.

I started using Legere reeds 2 years ago. I like the sound of the Studio Cut the best. I like the consistency of these synthetic reeds - they always sound good. I play in Pep Band, and we have lots of pauses during the games. I don't need to worry about keeping my reed wet, and I don't have to worry about chipping a reed - which I used to do when we'd need to jump up to play at a moment's notic. I now have these for all my saxes: tenor, alto, and soprano!
