My venerable HP Deskjet 5650 is nearly 20 years old, and as such nobody makes dust covers specifically designed for it any more. So, if I'm going to have one I have to search available covers for something close to the right size.This one, while not perfect, is close enough - and compared to other candidates I've seen, the price was definitely right.

This cover is made of permeable cloth, it is not solid like a plastic, nylon, or vinyl-like material. As such while it does "cover" your printer or item, the tiniest dust and other particles easily fall through the porous material getting into the buttons, feeder, etc.This, in a way, is worse than no cover at all as it basically acts as a sieve allowing the most destructive particles (the smallest ones) through which can gunk up the mechanics and connection of the moving parts and buttons. The large particles (the ones you easily see) collect on it so it *seems* like it's working but it doesn't fully do the job.It will keep out larger dust particles but you'll have to clean it frequently. It fits fine and will keep a printer from basic scratches and sun (although I really wonder who cares about that?) so i'd give it 2.5 stars if I could but as an actual DUST cover protecting mechanical parts from static, dust, etc it's mediocre at best.
