I find the more I explore cooking new cuisines. The more I learn about fascinating techniques. Toasting spices adds so much flavor! This little pot is really perfect for toasting. It is small and heats quickly so you don’t feel the need to walk away while waiting to do something else. Lov this pan!

Works perfectly. With the snap on screen it keeps all the seeds inside the pan. My only negative is that it is pretty cheaply made. Made from light weight aluminum it bends easily.

Very easy to use...Browns seeds quickly. Smaller than I envisioned; but because it heats & toasts so rapidly, you can brown large amounts without a problem.

This is for roasting sesame but I used it for coffee roasting after seeing similar ones in Tokyo and seeing it used on vidos online (Japanese on youtube) My first try was amateur but still quite tasty. Sold me on home roasting without investing a lot on a roaster to start. Ive used a cast iron pan before and it was terrible so really happy with this roaster.Well made, handle didn't get hot, you can see the beans roasting so you know how dark the roast. It's small so you can't roast too much but if you don't mind that, it's great. Looking forward to my next batch. Recommend for small batch or someone who wants to try home roasting without much of an investment. Compact and I have a feeling you'll get heavenly sesame out of it, too!

I have used this now for 3 years, multiple times a week. It is very light and some reviewers have mentioned it is flimsy. From my experience it should be used over a low to medium heat, not a high heat or an open flame.I have used it for sesame seeds (white and black) and frequently use it for roasting indian spices prior to grinding. I have not had any issues with stuff coming out the mesh, or the roaster opening. If the top latch becomes weak, just rebend the tang the holds it closed. I have never need to do this, but it is clearly easy to fix.I use it most of the time flat side down on an induction cooktop, i much prefer using this to roasting such spices on a cast iron skillet, it is much easier to control the heat applied to the spices and roast them evenly with this device. The mesh works well for rotating and flipping the spices inside. It is easy to open when hot, and easy to empty the roasted contents into a mortar or spice grinder to process further. The roaster holds plenty product to be roasted, and being lightweight is easy to use on a cooktop or burner. As it is high grade stainless cleaning is easy as well, on the rare occasions it gets stained, a little bar keepers friend will clean it right up.

My last sesame seed roaster finally gave up after about 40 years of use. I usually buy my Asian cooking supplies at Uwajimaya in Seattle, but lazy me decided I'd give this a try - Amazon-easy, you know. Wow! This one is slightly larger than my old one, has a cool wooden handle, is made of some quality metal, and the screen is the right-sized mesh. (These little roasters are good for spices and herbs, too, by the way.) Highly recommend!

Update to review: I have to report that in the pasty few weeks the wooden handle keeps coming off the pan. This is annoying, though fixable with glue, but I'm amending my review because of it. The pan is lightweight and sort of cheaply made, but it still is excellent for toasting seeds, when the handle's in place.-------------------------Keeps toasting seeds from jumping out of the pan. This sounds pretty minor, but if you cook a lot of Indian recipes, it make quite a difference. This gadget is something I was surprised to find, but am glad I did.- Carolyn
