KATA Door Lock Installation Kits include an adjustable guide template with snap-lock arms for selecting door width and backset as well as two hole saws and an arbor with a pilot drill. The guide template fits 1-3/8-inch and 1-3/4-inch thick doors and 2-3/8-inch and 2-3/4-inch backsets.
Notice: DO NOT DRILL THROUGH THE DOOR ONLY ON ONE SIDE. YOU SHOULD DRILL BORE HOLE HALFWAY ON EACH SIDE OF THE DOOR.

Added the holes for a lockset in under ten minutes to a door. Simple to adjust, simple to use. The hardest part for me was finding two screws to attach the device to the door to keep it in place. Drill bits were nothing special but got the job done. It does not feel that this device would hold up to repeated use, but if you are just planning to add a lock set to a door once in a while, this is ideal.

Better off marking holes with an awl and drilling without this useless guide. There is so much slop in the holes that they do nothing to guide the hole saws and you can easily end up with an off center hole. Also there is no center mark on the guide so you cant line up the guide with marks on your door without a bunch of extra effort (it also doesnt have square edges nor is it an even number wide... so adding your own center mark to it isnt easy. I tried a metric ruler too. I will throw it in the trash before i ever use it again. Just trash

I needed to widen the existing old lock hole for a new lock installation. This kit did the job as planned. I've read the reviews about the saw being a "joke". Be that as it may, it did the job for this one application. I don't know if I can use it again for another door, but it worked at least once.
