I'm using this unit to control the steam temperature in my sterilizer and it works flawlessly. The instructions are clear enough to not only get it wired and running, but I was able to dig into the minutia of settings and refine my parameters to my equipment. For thermal process control, it's hard to beat the value and quality of this inkbird unit.

Inkbird discontinued their 106RL 12 volt unit. This 106RH requires a 120ac wire in addition to a 12 volt wire for the 12V fan. Not a problem to do that, and the 106RH does exactly what the RL version did. Great unit for the price.

The set up guide is poorly written. This device requires clear service data due to its complexity of setup. User guide needs drastic improvements. The device works extremely well, but is a bit fragile at the back end. Be gentle, the rear housing separated / cracked easily while screwing on the wire connections.

What the product listing does not tell you is that you will have to buy a 12 volt power supply if you want to use this. It only closes a switch. The SSR version does provide power, but only 7.5 volts, NOT 12 volts. The original SSR I bought with the first PID controller from Inkbird totally burned out to a crisp.

This works perfectly for my needs. I'm using it in on/off mode rather than PID mode (simply turns off the heater when it gets up to set point and back on if the temp drops .3 degrees below set point)Be aware that this uses a mechanical relay that can handle about 3 amps max. I am using it to control a 90 watt heater so I'm less than 1 amp draw. I chose the RH version so I wouldn't need to mount an SCR and heat sink like is needed for the VH version. The disadvantage is that you can hear the mechanical relay clicking on and off where the VH plus SCR is silent when switching. If I were using it as a PID (where it is rapidly switching on and off) the sound of the mechanical relay would be annoying and it would be worth the extra cost and complication of going VH plus SCR.For this project, the RH works great. I doubt the mechanical relay will last as long as an SCR type but for this project it only needs to switch on and off once every 5 minutes or so.

This is an excellent piece of equipment, but be sure you want the RH, not the VH.I got it to run a glass annealing kiln. I didn’t know the difference between the two versions and (my luck) got the wrong one. If you want something more than an incubator or coffee pot, this is the wrong controller.Documentation is almost in English, but decipherable. Quality overall is surprisingly good. Just be sure to get the right one. Learn from my mistake!
