Was needed after 1” body lift , I noticed steering was a little odd , looking closely at the steering shaft I saw it was in a bind where it comes thru firewall bushing , installed new one and it moved the bind the other way , I loosened the 2 frame mounting bolts till the shaft was relaxed and shimmed one side , happy with product.

Contrary to some reviews this is exactly 1" higher than the stock bracket, with a body lift this easy to install fix corrects the steering shaft angle, less angle means longer life and easier steering. Only drawback is lack of fixed studs to mount the factory pillow block. They do include small bolts that take the factory nuts, however PITA to get two wrenches in the confined space. I removed the inner fenders from my GenRight hilines to do the BrownDog motor mount so made sense to add this.

This bracket is thicket material than the factory one and raised my steering shaft the needed 1” to restore factory operating angles. I have other non-factory steering components in my TJ and I think because of this I had to modify the bracket slightly to pass the shaft through the firewall in the correct location. I just ovaled out the top hole of the bracket and spaced out the side hole from the frame mount with 3 washers. This shifted the bracket about 1/4 inch towards driver side and allowed it to pass through firewall without binding on the boot there.

I have a newly installed 1” rough country body lift and tried to get this placed after a tub off frame restoration. No fenders or drivetrain so this was at the easiest point of installation. Couple prior reviews stated the same bad angle and I would have had to cut and weld to make a new product fit. Ended up keeping the original stock part in place.

Product does not look like the picture. They state it doesn’t look like it but anyways advertise something that they’re not selling. But gave it two stars cause it was missing the hardware

The quality seemed good however it is not 1.00" rise but 2.25" rise which causes the steering shaft to be put in an upward angle. Also should you be able to manipulate the steering shaft into an acceptable downward angle you now put an excessive amount of strain on the needle bearing that is riding on the steering shaft. This riser needs to be re-engineered with a true 1.00" rise.

I cleaned the bearing while I had it apart & greased it. The frame bolts(15mm socket) on my 01’ TJ had blue loctite on them. Breaker bar cracked them but expect a fight. The pinch bolt(13mm socket) was super tight too. The 10mm nuts that hold the bearing to the old bracket come off easy with a deep socket. Pretty easy job with a bunch of extensions. The rubber boot going through the firewall will likely need tweaking & lube while you’re at it.Do you need this?If you can rattle your steering shaft with your left hand(near firewall) while holding onto your steering wheel with your right hand(through open window or door) & can feel it - this and/or greasing the bearing was the fix. I no longer feel it from the steering wheel while manually rattling the steering shaft & the steering wheel doesn’t rattle excessively while driving over bumps/potholes. ✌️
