Simply, it is an inseparable part of the Tibetan and Buddhist tradition. Prayer wheels are known as Mani wheels in the Tibetan language. The Buddhist prayer wheels are used as an aid to meditation and as a means of accumulating wisdom, good karma, and means of putting bad karmas and negative energy aside.

I bought this prayer wheel as a gift after seeing larger ones at the Denver Zoo. I loved the significance behind the prayer wheel, and I thought this would make a cool gift for someone special. I wish it was slightly better constructed as the wheel itself was a bit wobbly. But the wood is solid, and the wheel itself is nicely put together. There was even the paper spool of mantras inside the wheel. It spun nicely every time. I would buy it again.
