About this item

  • Waterproof and ultralight
  • As the sack is compressed air is forced out the eVent bottom
  • See-thru Sil-Nylon fabric allows you to see what's inside.
  • New Lineloc technology is 30% lighter than webbing compression systems
  • 5.25 x 7.75 x 21"

Air means it's ultralight, made with 30D hybrid sil-nylon CORDURA. Vent means it purges air through the eVent bottom. Dry means it's factory seam sealed with a roll-top closure, the rolling stay is pre-curved so that it pops open, making it easier to load than a flat stay. Bloc means it nests inside your pack well. Solid means it's durable, and also that you can compress your gear down to a nearly rocksolid state. But the name doesn't quite say it all, Lightened by replacing the compression webbing with paracord. We call it LineLoc Technology, another Granite Gear first. The Block shape is an innovation to help you pack more efficiently inside your pack. Compared to a round shape, the bloc fits better into the corners of your pack, they stack nicely, and eliminate all the "dead air" that can happen when you try to pack with round stuffsacks. Less dead air means better load stability, quicker pack loading, and the possibility of carrying the same amount of gear in a smaller pack, saving you weight.

Manufacturing defect by using a very sharp piece of plastic in a lightweight unreinforced material. Within 10 uses the sharp plastic is poking through and now I risk slicing my expensive sleeping bag! They should round the corners or reinforce the fabric in that area.

Bought this compression sack for a trip at Philmont to protect my Enlighten quilt due to weight and waterproof capability. One of the four lines broke 7 days into 12 day trek. Line can be replaced easily (thankfully) and I am a big fan of Granite Gear products but think using rope line vs webbed straps is the wrong place to shave weight considering it’s grams being saved not ounces.

This is the perfect size stuff sack for keeping my top and underquilts dry and compressed for backpacking. I also use one for my backpacking tent when not hammocking.

Really good compression sack....a bit wonky for my sleeping bag , which is a Stoic 20 and not ultralight down. I find the compression cords to be sturdy and easy to use. It's very light...I use it for my camp clothes, extra socks and my puffy to keep them clean and dry in my pack in a smaller compressed size

At first glance this looks like any other compression sack, and you start to wonder why you bought it in the first place. But then you stuff it full of gear, compress it down to nothing, realize that it fits nicely in your pack, and its waterproof; it's at this point that you come to find out that you actually got your money's worth. As far as compress-ability is concerned, I use this for my Hammock Gear top quilt and I can reduce the size of my bag by half when compared to the sack that it came with.Waterproofing seems excellent as well, I haven't field tested it yet (thankfully). But I did fill my sink full of water, and fully submerged my bag several times, then left it floating in the sink for almost 30 minutes. I wasn't planning on leaving it in the water that long, but I forgot it was in the sink after a few minutes. Much to my surprise my quilt was 100% dry!Great product, and does exactly what it's supposed to do.

I have purchased multiple Granite Gear sacs before and been very happy so I was very surprised at this sack. The material is supposed to be "see thru", this isn't really true. The ties are tiny and flimsy (although they have not yet broken, probably because I rarely use this sac). I camp all year round and canoe in the summer, so feel I know my products. The other selling point is that the sac is square to more easily pack. This isn't true either - it always ends up round. So, the fabric is flimsy and not 'see thru', it does NOT pack square, and the plastic ties/strings are not sturdy. Just buy the regular Granite Gear sacs, they are great.

I tried the 18L sack with a 0 degree down bag and was impressed with the compression. I plan on using this in my kayak, which typically stays fairly dry in the bulkhead but there is always a chance of water getting in, especially in big seas, so the waterproof aspect will save me some space and weight by not having to enclose the sack in a dry bag. At this point in time, I can't vouch for the durability of these bags, as I haven't had it for very long nor tried it out for kayak camping yet. What I can say is that they compress well, are lightweight and from my initial tests, waterproof. They would work out extremely well inside a backpack.

Lightweight and extremely durable. Perfect for storing cloths while backpacking, and it seems pretty water-proof. Going on 4 years now and still looks new.
