The reason I gave it only 4 stars is that it doesn't fit on what I would call a standard winch mount (for a boat the size of mine- 1200 lbs, 17' aluminum Tracker). I had visited two boat trailer parts stores nearby and the winch stands they offered were the same size or much larger. The winch was too close to the winch stand and would not fit between the roller arm and the base of the winch mount bracket base. I, therefore, went to a company that sold steel tubing and purchased one foot of 1/8" 2x4 rectangular steel tubing and paid for an additional cut to give me a 5" and 7" piece and used them as spacers. I then primed and spray painted the steel tubes. Dutton-Laison may sell an adapter to mount the winch on the stand, but, I was unable to determine which would fit. I then cut the winch power cable inside the trunk and installed an Anderson Powerpole (120A) quick disconnect (see link) so that I could connect the power cable to a battery or other 70A source to operate the winch when not attached to the vehicle. You could use the emergency hand crank, but, I found this much easier. I have an Anderson Powerpole quick disconnect for my bow mount trolling motor and, therefore, can connect the winch power cable to the boat's power for maintenance if needed.
