Product Description

This rope core whip will be your best gear, a sophisticated bull whip. Entirely handcrafted from 8 strands of genuine cowhide leather in a dark brown Color. Features a strong but well-balanced handle and a practical wrist strap. 18 inches long Fall and 8 inches cracker, comes with a cracking sound. This whip will be a great cowboy, western whip, or even a realistic movie prop. This elegant, powerful “whip” will put the power in your hand, and definitely make a loud crack. Inspired by the Indiana Jones whip, is well crafted and well balanced light weight whip. Although designed for experienced players, beginners may try their luck with it as well.

Whip Care and using instructions:

Upon delivery your whip will be quite stiff. Don’t worry as this is normal. As you use your whip it will “break in” as we say, becoming more supple over time and adapt to your style of cracking. Think about it like getting a new pair of leather shoes. They too might be a bit stiff and uncomfortable in the beginning, but as you wear them they’ll loosen up and form perfectly to your foot. Refrain from trying to speed up the breaking in process by bending the whip back and forth and putting large amounts of leather dressing-/conditioner on it. Just use it like you normally would and give the whip some time.

Whips should be used properly and given long service. Physical damage such as hitting on sharp objects, gravel, concrete etc, being jammed in doors or truck tailgates, or chewed by dogs or poddy calves, obviously will destroy a whip quickly.

Using the whip with excessive force,

As in seeking the loudest possible crack, will cause early breakage of falls and stretch the bolster of the whip. The usual and preferred crack is that attained with minimum force. A strong wrist action will over-stress the keeper on a whip or the junction on a bullwhip, and will cause early failure. Normal use of these whips should employ very little wrist force.

Style of Inside Construction of whip:

Bullwhip starts with a wood for the handle that provides both a solid foundation and weight to balance the whip while a rope core is an innermost layer inside of the whip which is attached with the wood. Then there is bolster over the rope core and wood handle. The overlay is done in 8, 12 or 16 plaits. All the minute details are taken into account to achieve the look and feel of the original whip.

I loved standing outside and cracking this on the ranch, the colour is a little odd, but is a good value beginner whip. The leather begins breaking down after a while, so I had to wrap it in a layer of sports tape to protect it, but pretty good all over!

A little shorter than it seems... they count the length of the little shoelace like end. It is in fact so, but I took it off first thing because, the larger the tip, the louder the sonic boom. That is the coolest part of cracking a whip. I want it to echo across the valley, not sound like a squirrel fart.

I bought this whip to learn to crack and have to say, I wasn't expecting something of this quality in the sub $100 range. It cracks loud and easily, with a pop comparable to a low caliber gunshot. On the visual side of things, it's a beautiful thing. Contrasting strips of black and white leather create a striking pattern that catches the eye.To conclude, I couldn't have asked for a better first whip.
