Looks cool, produces a brighter sound. I have traditional, a rovner and this one. Same reed using all three and this lig lets the sound come thru best. However, it is about 100% harder to set up than the traditional lig. It's hard to remove the mouthpiece without loosening the lig too and sometimes the plate that you can see in the picture, slides around. It's an extra minute to get right, but you can hear a difference. Decide for yourself: worth the setup or not?

I don't have a problem with the response I get from my mouthpiece/reed when using this ligature, but getting it properly set up is IMO way too difficult. And good luck if you need to twist your mouthpiece to tune up once you've set it, as it's very easy to knock out of wack. Tone wise it feels to me like the reed feels harder and louder, like maybe a quarter step up the hardness scale. That might come in handy if you have reed that's starting to go wobbly. But the set up issue is a deal killer for me. I like to be able to slap a reed on quickly, and know it's being held on correctly and will STAY that way. The Vandoren M/O is actually cheaper than this one and is an absolute champ in terms of holding the reed on just right (and I happen to love the way it plays too). This said, I know some good players who like this wired contraption. Well, not me.I upgraded to three stars because 2 seems too negative. I mean some folks do like it, so maybe it's just me.

The lig is awesome, despite the fact that in the description it didn't say that the cap comes with it...
