About this item

  • Rail Type: One Piece Picatinny

"The Bergara Premier, and certain Remington 700 models (ie. 700 Police, 700 LTR) require the base to be drilled out for #8 screws. Our Remington 700 mounts that are predrilled are only available in our Heavy Duty platform and are available below. If you would like to drill the mount yourself, we do offer a #8 Drill Out Kit which comes with the appropriate drill bit and screws. This mount comes standard with a bevel on both sides making it ambidextrous. The bolt pattern on our Remington 700 Short Action mount fits Short Action Remington 700 rifles (example 223, 308), as well as the 722 and 40x. Despite what you may have heard, the Remington 700 mount will NOT fit your Howa 1500 or Weatherby Vanguard. The bolt pattern is similar, but the remainder of the mount (ejection port, length, etc.) renders it useless on these two guns. We recommend measuring the hole spacing in your receiver to confirm it matches with the dimensions we have published. Picatinny cross slots run the full length of the rail, which gives the shooter flexibility when mounting scope rings and other accessories. The channel in the center reduces the overall mass of the mount. Also, in many cases, it will not obstruct usage of factory iron sights. Our one-piece scope mounts are the obvious choice for hunters and tactical shooters alike. This mount is a Picatinny-style base and compatible with Picatinny or Weaver scope rings. We machine these in our shop using one of our machining centers. After machining, the mounts are tumbled, sand blasted, and Type II anodized for long lasting durability. Installation: We recommend 20 inch lbs of torque and a drip of blue thread locker (sold separately). The entire mount and accessories (from the mounting screws and wrench down to the packaging) are made in the USA."

I have a large collection of varmint/target rifles. As I upgrade the scopes on these rifles, I replace the old Weaver (etc.) 2-piece mounts with EGW bases. I just installed one on my favorite rifle, an older Rem M700 BDL Varmint Special (243 Win) in a Boyd's stock. I bought this rifle brand new in the early 70's and once I found a load it likes, it is fantastic. The base fit perfectly. I used my Wheeler torque tools and Blue Loctite to secure it.Nice things:- EGW provides BOTH screw sizes, since Rem used 2 different sizes. Plus, a spare in case you drop one!- they even provide the correct Torx bit.I won't use anything else!

Easy to install. Works well on a Remington 700 short action. Seems sturdy. Provides space for easy setup for eye relief of a scope. Never tried it with a red dot sight.

EGW makes excellent accessories, I have several rails (Remington and Mossberg) and they've all fit without issue. I've never lost zero on an EGW equipped rifle.

Received the item but it was missing 3 out of the 4 screws included. Still gave 5 stars because of the build of the product.

One of the screws was not the right TPI and I had to find a spare screw I had on hand and got lucky it worked. Other than that, it's good and price point was good.

Very well machined and finished. Since it is drilled for the #6 screws, there is no slop or play once the screws are inserted. Unlike the bases that are drilled for the larger screws and come both #6 & #8 screws, this fits precisely - as you would expect from EGW. Nothing to complain about. It just works.

As I said above easy to install and fits perfectly to the rifle I was using it for (Bergara HMR in 6.5).
