I love this cylinder hone and can’t wait to use it for real. I have taken up small engine repair as a hobby and ordered this hone because I have seen my online mentors use a similar hone. I have played around with this one and it seems to work great, but honestly I haven’t tackled an engine with serious compression or cylinder problems yet. I’m happy that this tool is available for hobbyists like me at a fair price so I will be prepared to clean up the cylinders when the need arises.

I like this nice simple cylinder hone and I believe it is just perfect for the engine we are working on.

I ordered this hone so when I get back to rebuilding my small block Chevrolet 350 I will be ready to break the glaze on the cylinders. This is a exactly the right tool to make the cylinder ready for the new rings making a cross hatch pattern on the cylinder walls. This comes with the 220 grit four inch stones for honing. It works well as I tried it on a small engine I was rebuilding and it fits the small cylinder well and will work great in the auto engine block too. I like that you can adjust the hone pressure with the knurled adjuster. I use light oil with thee hone and then clean it after use so the metallic debris does not dry and ruin the stones. This kit even comes with a spare set of stones so it is a great value product, for long term use. I would order this hone again and would recommend it to others.

This cylinder hone is very well made, and very easy to use. The springs are all nice and stiff, but not too firm. And the shaft and arbor are good and sturdy and have flats that allow it to lock tightly into a drill. It's a bit heavier than the one or two others I've used, which is kind of nice, but if you have a lot of cylinders to hone will make your arms tired.Comes well packaged and includes spare honing stones and cotter pins. I did use it to hone the cylinder of an old junk lawnmower engine which I've been saving for parts as a test, and it did a fantastic job, leaving some nice crosshatching. As always, if I encounter any issues with it or come up with anything else to add I'll update this review!

My neighbor has a 1965 Impala that he has been working on for 7 years. I am tired of seeing it just sitting without being used so I offered to help him out. It turned out that the motor needed a full rebuild. He isn't confident in his abilities to do the work so I am showing him how to do it. When we first got the motor torn down I could tell the cylinders had some wear marks but it is still in good shape. This hone made quick work of getting the cylinders looking almost brand new again. The motor supposedly only has 80,000 miles on it. So it wasn't too bad off. In a weekend we were able to get the motor put back together and in the car. This is the first time he has heard it run smoothly since he bought the car. Using the hone was simply connecting it to a drill and going slow in an up / down motion to get the cross hatching just right in it. The hone functions perfectly and is very easy to use, even for my 73 year old neighbor. It is just the right size for this old Chevy V8 motor.

One of my stones looks like the corner chipped off, but at least there's extras. I haven't been able to try it out on an actual motor, so I tested it on some pipe. Worked well enough there, and I see no reason why it wouldn't work in the bore of an engine.

Works great for honing those perfect cross-hatches into the cylinder block so the piston rings will seat. I used this last night on a 5.7L HEMI engine block. It worked very well. I am pleased with this product. I was able to adjust the spring tension to my preference. They included a spare set of stones just in case you go in too deep and break a stone on the main bearing boss.I do recommend this cylinder hone. It works great with a cordless drill and a can of brake parts cleaner.
