While this Countertop Salamander Broiler works very well, exactly as described, I can not recommend it for home use. It is truly meant for a commercial kitchen setting where most if not all surrounding surfaces are heat-proof. The top and back get extremely hot, do NOT touch these surfaces during use but, remarkably, the sides remain cool to the touch--some great insulation there, I guess. Also, since there is no door on the unit, the heat from the element makes the space in front of the unit scorching hot. It is imperative that this be set on a heat-proof surface and, once again, do not touch the area in front of the unit with bare hands. In addition, the unit increases the room temperature very quickly--my kitchen temp went up 20 degrees while I was using it. I decided to return it even though I had to pay return shipping--so I took a loss--but it just isn't something that can be used in a residential setting.

We had a few ideas for our restaurant but we didn't want to invest in an expensive commercial salamander just yet. This was the perfect choice! We offer made to order, fast food with fresh ingredients and this helped us keep the pace with our bakes and garlic bread slices. It heats up quickly and evenly. Shipped and arrived quickly. Very happy so far.

Unit was too big for the space available for use and went to return and was told it would cost over $80.00 to return it. Also based based on the address on the return slip UPS said that they would not guarantee delivery as the address in Atlanta, GA was notin the system.

Melts,broils and reheats flawlessly. Way more than I expected for the price paid. Well made, with care given to the assembly of the unit. The grill alone is far more substantial than I expected.One drawback although you can turn the elements down to zero, there is no mains power on/off switch, however an inexpensive stub extension with a built in power switch took care of that.
