I was looking for an alternative to stones in the flower pots I have on the steps from my drive to my sidewalk, and these fit the bill nicely. I had purchased new pots for the season and really did want to have to deal with finding or buying stone/gravel, and I also wanted something lighter. If I encounter problems by the end of the season I'll report back.

Most definitely saves on soil - which is horribly expensive ... gosh - its earth - why are we paying for it ....it really helps with my ferns when it rains too muchTrying it in my succulent hanging basket - will report back if it works or goes moldy

I had been wanting to put a somewhat large house plant in a new larger pot but dreaded the mess and all the extra soil I needed. I spotted this unique material and decided to give it a try. It cuts easily into any shape you need it to be. I cut two round pieces to put in the very bottom then wadded up the scrap cuttings on top of the round and added soil to cover them then moved the somewhat rootbound plant to the new pot. One of the things I like most about this is it covers the drain hole on the bottom so no dirt comes out. The pot is also not as heavy as it would have been with all soil in the pot. I'm concerned with the possibility of mold but it's too soon to tell. I intend to use this in any new potting or repotting until I run out. Will update review as I get more experience with this. The $22 price seems pretty high but I'm willing to buy more if it keeps the pot lighter and better drained.

Not even close to be 1inch thick! You can see 3 of them on the photo are barely 1inch together. And if you touch it gently it gets even more thin, like 3mm... Totally useless for the purpose it's sold. Wasted money

Yes, this works. But it is really just a felt/flannel material, so way overpriced. I would say you are probably better off with something else. Like fleece, this is water resistant material, until it gets saturated, then the water will start to drain through.

Filled in a larger planter and with pebble rocks on top, created the look we were going for.

This is a great idea. It helps you "fill a pot" and save on either the price or weight of potting soil. It's easy to cut to the perfect size. BUT it's a bit pricey for what it is.
