This is almost exactly what I needed and I can make it work. The stainless steel mesh will let the water through but keep my fish and plants out. Great!

This seems like a sturdy end filter, & they included a matching 3/4” slip end that the strainer screws into.We tested it, but had to file the rough slip edge of the connector, as it arrived with a nasty burr that could have made a leak.We use these on outgoing drain lines — to keep criters from crawling into other wise open pipes when water isn’t going out.This protected the pipe but did not inhibit the water flow, as the mesh is large enough to let water move almost as if no strainer were on there.I’d order this again.
