The locking gate option prevents accidental openings and loss or damage of your equipment. This option is also useful when moving through busy environments or confined spaces, by stopping snagging or clipping of external items which would impede movement. The locking gate has two positions, Open and Manually Locked. Each position is determined by a locating ‘click’, making it easy to select between the functionality of a snapgate and the security of a locked gate. I use it on my tree climbing harness to hold my chainsaw. It takes some pretty good abuse and still looks new. Great tool holder!

I bought to replace a broken caritool I typically use for holding wrenches and a skinning knife. The wire gate is nice for one handed no looking operation. Good quality parts and nice finish. I had to remove a lot of material with a file to fit on the thicker leather of a climbing belt but the height of the caribeaner is a good fit for my, typical, belt width.

I wish they could accept slightly taller and thicker saddles. NOT a big complaint because they are incredibly versatile. Sometimes I can't install them exactly where I want. Perhaps more of a saddle/harness design complaint.I also find it hard to remember which way to twist to un/lock the gate. I think wings or color coding on the knob/dial would be a pretty nice improvement. It's pretty impossible to twist and bend over to see the symbols when you're in your saddle.Finally, an even larger shelf would be welcomed.Having vented all these minor gripes, I absolutely love these. They'll be on every saddle I use. Having at least two, one for L/R, and maybe a 3rd in the back depending on your saddle type, is truly a game changer in comfort and work.
