The blanks were right for my use....pen turning.....one corner slightly chipped but will not render the blank useless. Nice wood and grain...I'll buy this again.

I lived in Australia for 4 years and discovered that Ironwood burns really, really slow due to its density. A quick search online shows that Ironwood is the most dense wood in the world. Of course there’s a few types of Ironwood and they never stated where this wood comes from, so I’m not sure it’s Australian Ironwood.The 9 pieces are each 3/4” x 3/4” and 5” long, so basically the normal size for pen making. I made 3 pens from the Ironwood, but as I was going to the bandsaw to saw the Ironwood in half, I noticed that one of the wood blanks had some cracks in it (see photo). This was the only questionable piece in the box, so I put it away to be used for a different pen kit that doesn’t require as much wood.The Ironwood drilled fine (33/64” & 27/64” bits) and I was able to use my pen mill to square off the tube ends. The pen blanks turned very well with my tungsten carbide cutters. The Ironwood does look very good after sanding (see pic).Overall very nice wood blanks, but I’m taking a star off for the one piece that has cracks in it, especially since they stated, “Our premium ironwood pen blanks are meticulously crafted”. A quality control issue?

This olive wood is gorgeous! I usually make my own blanks, but for an exotic wood such as Bethlehem Olive, it is nice to know I can order them on Amazon. These blanks are about as good as I could hope for. They are uniform in length and are fairly square, making it easy to find a center for turning. This particular wood is tightly grained and has a high content of sap. I didn't use a moisture meter on these because they seem dry and have a clear tone when tapped. But, my drill bit got gummed up a few times, as I was drilling the hole for the pen tube. Otherwise, these are perfect. I love the nice figuring, which is makes this wood fun to turn and to uncover the beauty inside. I am able to finish this to a high gloss without any visible pores using CA glue. One thing I like about these blanks is that they're long enough for slimline kits. When I cut these for executive pens, there is plenty leftover to save for segmented pens. I am enjoying turning these and will likely order them again in the future.

I haven't turned a pen yet, but these have good figure compared to some of the olivewood blanks I've ordered online. The price it good for 9 blanks.
