Tears exceedingly easy. Good idea but lacks strength.

I was having so much trouble with neighborhood cats in the garden beds, I almost gave up. Cucumbers got torn up three separate times with three separate, stubborn replantings (I had to go out and get new ones each time). We wanted something that we could set up that wouldn't hurt when we went to tend the garden so chicken wire was out. We figured out a way to pop this over and so far so good! The rain still gets through, the plants will get plenty of sun, and I won't have to scoop out my garden beds like a giant litter box.

I've tried my best with neem oil and flashing lights to repel pests but it doesn't work consistently so I thought I'd give this a try. This is a nice mesh netting that should confuse the birds and squirrels at least. I'm going to weigh it down with bricks, so they'll have to be very clever or determined to get my corn this year. The mesh is fairly thick but it lets enough light through to work and it also lets water and rain through so there's no problem there. At $8, it's a decent value. Hopefully I'll be able to reuse every crop.

I'm just now getting into gardening of both flowers and edible goods. This is perfect for my little edible goods and I hope it will help keep the bugs from eating the leaves. Last year we had a huge aphid problem and I hope this will help deter them from targeting those plants.I set this up with some framing and it was more than plenty to cover the garden bed. I used very heavy stones we had in the yard to weigh down the edges for now. So far the wind we've had has not pulled this off of the garden but we'll see once we get those extreme Texas thunderstorms and 80+mph winds. I may have to look into staple gunning these to the sides of the woods for that.

I used the netting through out the summer. The deer and rabbits were unable to get at the plants, but sun and rain could get through. I did tack down the edges of the netting and I was surprised that it stayed on during a particular high wind storm that brought trees down. At the end of this season it was easy enough to remove, shake out and store for use for next year.
