Always good to keep a couple of these on hand. They are not expensive, and can save big headaches when a shower valve goes down on a Friday evening when your relatives just arrived from out of town. Easy install. Nobody should have to call a plumber for this easy fix.

This is kind of hard to find product that I need to replace from very old shower controller. Lowes had only new style products and I found this on Amazon 1/3 of the price from original Moen product. No leak after replacing and was very easy to replace.

My Moen 1200 replacement failed after only 6 months, which is unusual for Moen. The valve inserts usually last for years. I tried Danco's version, which costs much less. It seems identical to Moen's -- high quality, clean, identical to the last detail. It went right in and works great. I'll update this review if it ever fails.

Perfect fit. Just be sure to use water proof silicone grease on cartridge before installing.

Got an old shower valve and I have to replace the cartridge every few years. I can’t get them at my local hardware store anymore so I’m happy to find them on Amazon.Easy install. Just as good quality as the others I’ve bought.

Have a house built in the 80s with a faucet that does pressure and hot/cold ... Then this is what I used and it worked great as a replacement cartridge bc the faucet may not be the issue and so old you have to special order this part so good to have if replacing a faucet in your house for shower only

The cartridge popped in and worked perfectly. Considerably cheaper than the Moen product.

At the time of purchase, we failed to notice that this cartridge is not intended for use with drinking water. For that reason it had to be returned.

I was having a problem with the hot water not getting so hot and a small drip I replaced it using this product and it was perfect. I will say the tool to remove the cartridge is best and makes the job a 10 minute job and putting some silicone grease really helped out. This saves me lots of money instead of removing the wall and replacing fixture, This was the perfect way to go.

After 24 years, the Moen 1200 cartridge in the shower was hard to work, and the shower head tended to drip. I used to fix the Moen 1200 in a farm kitchen by cleaning and applying silicone grease, but now I was in a house with no shower cutoff.I bought a new cartridge. I found pitting in the housing. With a chainsaw file, I felt for mineral deposits in the housing, at ports. I was able to file them down without digging into the brass. In the past, I’d used general-purpose silicone grease in reassembling Moen 1200 fixtures, to protect the brass, help everything seal, and prevent damage to o-rings. This time, I used Harvey’s Plumber’s Faucet and Valve Grease. The tube recommended it for installing o-rings.Five years later, it began dripping from the handle. I couldn’t budge the cartridge using Moen’s plastic adaptor and a wrench. It came out easily when I put a large nail through the eye in the stem and pried with the square shank of a large screwdriver. An o-ring was damaged. I didn’t know what had damaged it or why it took five years to leak. Fortunately, I had an o-ring of the right size. After another five years, the shower head would sometimes drip. I saved money by ordering a Danco 80993TS. I’ve found it to be as good as the Moen. This time, I couldn’t budge the Moen by prying with a screwdriver. With patient application of torque on the adapter, I turned the cartridge slightly. Then I was able to pry it out.The Harvey’s grease had caused the o-rings to swell so badly that they were now square in cross section, and they’d left rubber stuck to the housing. Harvey's had misled me. It's a petroleum product. I used silicone grease to install the Danco.I wanted the correct o-rings on hand. I had an assortment of 400, but none fit correctly. Around the cartridge, I needed three AS568 (the American standard) -113 and one -114. For the stem I needed two -111. Online, the O-ring Store will sell about a dozen of a specified size for about fifty cents, so for $1.50 and a mailing charge I got a supply of all three sizes. The stop tube slides onto the fixture, and the escutcheon goes over the stop tube. Eventually, the cartridge may drip into the stop tube. If it drips into the shower, it’s harmless. If instead the water ran back along the stop tube and dripped behind the shower wall, it could damage the structure of the house. Before screwing the knob on, I use a cotton swab to apply grease to seal between the fixture and the stop tube.
