Repair your leaky faucet with the Danco 9C-5H/C Hot/Cold Stem for Eljer Faucets. Replacing a faucet stem is an economical alternative to replacing the entire faucet. I bought a pair of these for my old Eljin tub faucets, and they're perfect - dimension, finish, construction, threading, and ease of use. These are high quality replacement items.

We bought a house that was built in 1950’s. Despite seller’s disclosure on no repairs needed in the plumbing; we found leaks in both hot and cold faucets in the bathtub. The only thing we knew was the name of the company written on faucet handles and spout. I researched into replacement parts for Eljer and this one came on top on Google. 4.16 inch was the correct length not 5.5 inch as used by later models. The plumber or the previous homeowner glued the hot and cold faucets to the stem and we couldn’t even get them apart as shown in pictures. To add problems; we didn’t have a working water main either. We had to turn off water supply from water meter to begin replacement.1) We needed an 8 inch plumbers wrench to get into tight spaces to unscrew the stem. (Because the faucet handles were glued, we couldn’t use the stem removing hex key).2) We didn’t have to replace the seat, so the seat is unused.3) We put in the new stem and tightened it gently with the stem installation plumber hex key. We bought these from Amazon only, they came in 6 different sizes. And despite looking huge, the third largest size fit on our small stem. It worked perfectly. The leak stopped.4) The universal faucet handle we bought from Amazon did fit with the help of one of the plastic adapters it came with.5) Universal flange we found on Amazon fit with some adjustments we made on our own.We are thankful to Danco and Amazon for stocking up affordable faucet stems, universal handles, flanges, all of the plumber tools even for discontinued products by their main companies, like Eljer.

This Eljer stem fit and worked perfectly. The only part that was not correct for a tub faucet was the seat was too short (sink type?) - the correct seat should be about 1 inch long.
