Bought this as a longer replacement shank for my Curt 10k lb weight distribution hitch. With the shorter shank that came with my hitch, I couldn’t open my tailgate all the way when hooked up to my camper. This shank shifts the ball about 6” further behind the truck so now I have plenty of clearance. Just like all other Curt products, this shank feels bulletproof. It’s on the heavy side, but works like it should. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone that needs a little more clearance between their trailer and their tow vehicle.

The shank they sent is different than the shank in the picture. It bolted up with no problem. I bought the used one and it looked new. The gusset is different than the one I had on my weight distribution hitch. It was about 1” shorter, but about 1” longer. The gusset was 1/2” notched at 45 degrees in the corner touching the 2” sq metal. Box was damaged when delivered. I called Amazon Today, Feb 3, 2024 and their customer service representative said the one I received they have had no complaints on and is safe. When I contacted Curt, they just pawned me off to Amazon and had no interest in answering my question whey it is different than in their diagrams/pictures

My tailgate would hit the tongue jack before. Added thing and it gets it far enough away on my 21 F150 to not worry about denting the tailgate or holding the tailgate up to get in my bed

This shank allows me to fully open the tail gate on my f-150. It also allows better clearance for backing the trailer. Welds look good and I'm pleased with the product.

Bought this new one to go with my new truck. My old truck was lifted so I couldn't set ball at proper height for my new truck. This one works good. Has a better hole pattern than all the others I've looked at. Its a solid 2" square stock and has really good gussets on it. Sticks out far away from truck to keep camper trailer away from truck.

poor assembly, it was welded off center.I had to use it as is , there was no time to return it, ....surprised me really as I have purchased several items from them . they would have got this back in a heartbeat if there would of been time.......when I return from my trip I am going to take this to the local fab shop , have it taken apart and welded and assembled correctly,,,,,,,,,,,
