The shape of these crayons are perfect for the novice entering into the experience of coloring. The shape fits nicely into a toddler's hands so little hand coordination is necessary. The trick is applying enough pressure to leave a mark on the paper. Having a somewhat limited number of colors is also useful in learning color names without becoming overwhelmed.

I have a 1 year old grandson who loves to color along with his 3 and 4 year old siblings. These crayons fit very nicely in his pudgy little hand and make it easy for him to color (if you can call a 1 year old's scribbles coloring). The wax doesn't discolor his hands and the colors are nice and vibrant.

These Crayola My First Crayons are the perfect first step into the colorful world of art for little hands! Forget frustration and broken stubs, these egg-shaped wonders are a game-changer for toddlers. Here's why they deserve a whopping 5-star review:Grip it and Scribble: The ergonomic egg design fits snugly into tiny palms, making them a breeze to grasp and control. No more awkward fumbling or tears from dropped crayons! My 18-month-old daughter picked them up and started scribbling rainbows like a seasoned artist.Crayon Power with No Fear of Choking: The chunky egg shape also ensures they're too big for mouths to swallow (a major parent win!). I can finally relax knowing she's having fun exploring colors without the constant worry.Washable Wonder: Messy masterpieces are inevitable, but with these crayons, clean-up is a breeze. They wash off surfaces and skin effortlessly, so even the most enthusiastic artist won't leave you with permanent rainbow streaks (well, maybe on paper!).Vibrant Colors Spark Imagination: The bright, cheerful colors instantly capture any kid's attention. My daughter squeals with delight at every new shade, and her scribbles have transformed into colorful worlds and funny creatures.Durable Enough for Tiny Tornadoes: These crayons can take a beating! They've been thrown, chewed (by curious pups, not the baby!), and dropped countless times, but they remain unscathed. Sturdy construction prevents cracks and frustration, keeping the fun going.Bonus Points: The convenient storage container with a snap-shut lid is a parent's dream. No more scattered crayons under the couch or lost in the toy box. Everything stays neatly organized and ready for the next colorful adventure.Overall, these Crayola My First Crayons are a must-have for any parent with a budding artist on their hands. They're not just crayons, they're a ticket to a world of creative exploration, mess-free fun, and endless smiles. Trust me, get them, you won't regret it!Final Verdict: 5 out of 5 stars (would give 6 if I could!) – Egg-cellent for little hands and big imaginations!

This is one of two crayon products I purchased from Amazon a while back to try and find ways to make scribbling seem more accessible to our son, who has a longer list of medical conditions that has come with developmental delays and some serious fine motor struggles. Serious fine motor struggles. We had nearly an 18 month delay on the development of any ability to do a scribble. This was something I was hoping would encourage him because the round shape would have made it easier for him to grip in his hands and would have required less from his fingers. And, I must admit that I really liked the idea of something that he could write with that he wouldn't be able to bite into half (he's a heavy oral stemmer who likes to chew on things). So, here's where one of his diagnoses has particular relevance...Autism. Kids with Autism have a tendency to struggle with being flexible in what they are willing to accept, and our sweet son comes in on the very rigid "I like things exactly the way I like them" side of things. So, these don't look like anything he had come to associate with scribbling, drawing or marking up to that point in all of the time we had been practicing with markers, crayons, pencils, pens. Consequently, he HATED them, even more then typical crayons. And that's saying something. Were they easier for him to hold? Sure. Could I get him to independently make a mark with them? Nope, not so much as a single time that I can recall. And he gave them some pretty funny looks of disdain. Looking back now about it I can laugh, but I finally ended up throwing them out recently having abandoned all hope of using them functionally. So I suppose this is more a note of caution for families of kiddos who have fine motor struggles. This may be a great place to start, but if your kiddo tends to define things quickly and rigidly and then struggle to accept differences based on that, these could be more of a struggle for you. Otherwise, they seemed to work exactly as they should (I tried them myself as I was modeling for him appropriate use).
