It worked and a must if you don't have a high quality impact wrench. Very sturdy and simple to use - worked perfectly on the 2012 Outback. Able to hold the crank pulley and removed pulley bolt easily with 22mm socket and breaker bar. Reinstall was just as simple using torque wrench to retighten to spec.

Quick shipping. Item as described. Durable construction. Enabled one person crank bolt removal using this tool plus breaker bar with pipe extension on Subaru EJ251. Highly recommend.

I have a 2006 Subaru Forrester and this tool worked to remove the harmonic balancer. I've done this job without a tool like this before and it's a struggle to remove and then to tighten back up the crankshaft bolt that holds the crankshaft pulley on. It's a high torque value and trying to hold that pulley in place with a wrap wrench is not fun.Using this tool made it a very quick and easy job. Would definitively recommend just buying this tool and getting the work done quickly. I don't like to buy many special tools, but this one I consider worth it for this particular task. This tool is well made and is of a good length to help hold things in place while you crack the bolt loose or torque it back down.

I did an engine build an EJ255 from a 2011 WRX, and this tool worked great. I was able to remove the crank bolt (with the stock crank pully) by myself without having to have the car in gear or worry about running over myself or pulling the car off of the jack stands if the brakes didn't hold. I was able to press this against the frame and use a breaker bar to break it free. Then rest it on the opposite frame and tighten the bolt to 150+lbs. Then easily turn the engine back a hair to remove the tool without any issue. I highly recommend if you need to remove your stock crank pully. If you have an aftermarket crank pully, you may or may not be able to use this.

Fantastic bit of kit! You can come up with another way to remove the accessory pulley from the crank shaft on your Subaru, but this thing is so freaking cheap and it does the job so well, why would you? What a tool! I love it. I hope I get to use it again in another 80k miles. Mostly because I don't want to die before that. Freaking hate working on cars. This makes it way easier. Plus? You get to feel important having a tool you rarely use laying around! Feel like a Snap-on guy, without the Snap-on prices! Hahahaha. Seriously though, this is awesome. You definitely want one.

Kind of expensive but if you work on Subaru’s often you need this tool. Yeah we all know you can used the starter to break that crank bolt free, but what about putting it back on to torque spec? Maybe stick a screwdriver in the flywheel? Sounds sketchy. Also what if you are removing the engine to do the repairs? This tools answers all those questions. I bought the other one for the cam pulley. Both work great I am not a mechanic by trade but I still do not regret buying this tool. Thank you to Subaru Mike on YouTube for recommending this tool.

This tool made simple work out of removing the pulley off of the crankshaft in my 2009 Subaru Forester (SOHC engine). It is a heavy duty, big tool and is long enough to lay against the frame rail to get leverage if you are working alone. I also used it to get leverage against the opposite frame rail when I torqued the crankshaft bolt back down (around 140 ft lbs I think). My only issue is like someone else mentioned the bolts used to fit into the holes in the pully don;t seem strong enough and started to bend a little. I think I will see if I can swap them out for stronger bolts. Other than that, the thing works great. BTW, I also used it to remove the drivers side camshaft gear/pully using three of the larger bolts, although it isn't designed for that purpose. Unfortunately, the passenger side camshaft gear/pulley is of a different design and this tool won't work on that one.
