Received a tool which had been previously used. Other than that, this worked great to remove a drain which didn't have any cross-threads left

Worked exactly like it should. I had to really hammer it into the drain to get the teeth to catch, but the drain was rusted and chipping. What was left of the drain was stuck to the extractor pretty well so it would not be usable again in the future.

This little tool worked perfectly and was less expensive than most alternatives.

Snapped the cross off two bath tub drains. Thought this was going to be trouble, but in under five minutes this extractor was successful with both. Used a heat gun for 20 secs, two hammer hits to seat the extractor and the ratchet didn't slip at all.

My porcelain tub is more than 60 years old and is in pristine condition except that the finish was worn on the old metal drain flange. I figured that it was age/rust welded to the drainpipe and was so scared that if I tried to remove that flange it would chip or scratch my tub. I watched a bunch of online videos, and this tool looked like it would be the safest way to remove that flange. I spent the two days waiting for the tool to arrive spraying the flange with silicon spray and rust remover hoping that would help release the flange. When it arrived, I put it to the test, tapped it a couple of times with a rubber mallet to seat it into the flange, and inserted the socket wrench, just a few more light taps on the socket wrench with the mallet and voila! it unscrewed without much more effort. I was AMAZED how easily the flange came off, no damage to my tub.

This was very easy to use, especially if the cross is corroded in bottom of drain.

This is exactly what I was looking for to remove a tub drain that has been damaged. I couldn't find anything else that could do it. I was actually looking for something like slip joint pliers with the teeth on the outside of the jaw so that it could grip the drain fitting though the drain. This is a much more elegant solution and grabs the fitting like nothing else.

Husband finds no fault in this item itself. The problem was we have old apartments with tubs over 30 plus years old. The old tubs and these newer tubs have different sized drains. Likely gone metric. He did get the drain out of the old tub, but he did a lot of hammering and then had to use a very long pipe for leverage. It was not an easy task. This item is just small enough in the older drain that it kept slipping. Will likely work very much better in the new tubs as their drains are a little smaller. Be warned that also means the new replacement parts will not fit the old tubs either.

I'm thrilled that it worked. Took me over an hour, used hair dryer to heat the old drain several times, yanked on it, it fell off, hammered it back in a few times until it gripped properly. Then I still couldn't get it off without a lot of force. I didn't have a breaker bar so I braced myself against the tub and used my legs as force. That surprisingly worked!Advice...make sure you have a 1/2 adapter for your ratchet and use a lot of heat and patience. It doesn't come off easily. I was very pleased that it did the job! And this extraction tool still looks like new afterwards! It's a good tool, you just have to realize that it may take an hour or more.

Did exactly what I needed it to do. I was able to remove my corroded tub drain with no fuss. Used my 1/2" drive ratchet. It slipped once or twice until I got it in far enough and then the old drain came out smooth as butter.

I had to remove a tub drain and the crossbars in the bottom of the drain completely disintegrated when I used the traditional extractor tool because the drain was so corroded. So I went to my toolbox to get this tool and I must say that it's completely useless. It just spins and won't bite into the brass the drain is made out of. I pounded it in with a hammer first, put my ratchet and extension on and nothing. Just spun. So I resorted to the methos I've used for 30 years when the inside of the drain breaks out and you can't use the traditional extractor......a cold chisel and hammer. After 3 or 4 taps on the lip and it began to back out. So much for a "specialty tool". Funny thing is that upon inspection after it failed to perform as promised, the tool actually has grooves in it where it was spinning inside the drain. No wonder!! When the tool is made of softer metal that brass it can't possibly bite into the metal of the drain to back it out. Not only is this tool useless, it can't possibly do what it's advertised to do when it's a softer metal that the metal you're trying to extract. This is going back for a refund! I'd give it 0 stars if I could.
