Had leaking compression type cartridges on both hot and cold. They lasted well over 20 years... but never really operated completely smoothly.Seeing the newer style ceramic cartridges I opted for them. Not a disappointment. VERY SMOOTH action and ZERO drips. Thoroughly satisfied! Faucet is restored to new function.

These ceramic have a tendency to start dripping a lot faster than the old rubber washer ones. We have over a 12 of these faucets in our apartments. But the ceramics are a lot easy to change out only takes me 20 minutes a set.

We had an old Chicago wall mount faucet in our kitchen. The hot side was dribbling, then it started to whistle. It was truly annoying. Upon disassembly I discovered that it was a stem with a ceramic disc. Tracked it down by using a picture of the old one, replaced and no more problem. :)
