I picked this specifically for my 7-year-old to practice his spelling words on. Lined paper gets old fast, and I've replaced markers twice for dry erase lap boards. I knew this was NOT going to be a true blackboard, as slate cannot be rolled up, and real chalk is not dustless! However, it got his attention, and he wrote each word far more times than he did before, and without the usual moaning and groaning. The six colors of "chalk" (crayon-like in texture) have plastic holders you insert them into. There is a magnetic cup for the chalk, but only five "bare" pieces fit in it, and once in the holders, three barely fit. The eraser is a SUPER fuzzy brown cloth that somewhat removed the chalk from the board, but it was hard work (not going to be done by a child) and it didn't erase it all. I needed to break out a spray cleaner and make numerous passes (3 paper towels) to get it truly clean. The cloth already is full of residue and needs to be washed after the single use of the board, as seen in the picture. There is no place to hang the cloth, so the Beatles are giving an assist. I was none to happy with this item until: THE GOOD NEWS: Real chalk works on the board and in the plastic holders! I had 3 colors on hand, and I have already swapped out the dustless for the real thing. I would rather deal with a little dust and have my son be able to swipe the board clean in one shot. (Me too!) I think I even have a real eraser around that I can use. I only gave this 4 stars because I can use real chalk, otherwise it would have been demoted to 3 stars. I would not have been happy paying this much if I could not use real chalk. NOTE: Three very small magnets came with the board. I put them away as they were a possible in-the-mouth hazard for my other child. Before the first spelling words were written, a bug drawing magically appeared on the board, so this would be fun for spontaneous art. With real chalk, that is!

I originally bought this thinking I could stick it on my fridge for my boys to play with while I cook, but I misread that it’s actually a contact paper adhesive board. I’m not comfortable sticking it directly onto my fridge, so that was a bit of a letdown.That said, the actual chalkboard quality is great! The included chalk pens write smoothly, and I love that they come with holders to keep my hands clean. The little game piece-shaped magnets are a cute touch. For its size, the price feels fair. I may end up mounting it on a piece of wood for my kids’ playroom instead. Overall, a great product—just make sure it works for your space before buying!

Magnatiles do work on this product which is exactly what I was looking for. You just can’t do multiple layers of magnatiles or it will start to slide. We have some Melissa and Doug magnets that work great too. No issues adhering the product on the wall. The chalk crayons work great and wipe off easily with water and a cloth. 48x36 is a perfect size. Definitely recommended this budget friendly addition to any space!

It's great! I wanted it for my kitchen, and it's just what I needed! It sticks really well and has a practical format to be able to write down lots of things.Very important for me is that it's also magnetized, so it's 2 in 1, without having to hang things with magnets on the fridge or anywhere else.The colored chalks that come with it are very practical and paint great.And the cloth is also very useful, if you wet it with a little clean water it makes it much better.
