This is the one to buy if you have any switchers or systems involved in your Cat 6 transmission. Our Control 4 smart home did not work with other brands, and I had to return products. 2 weeks with this one, and flawless so far.

Works great. I have a 180ft cat6 run from my dvr in one building to another building. At the receiver end I'm using a hdmi splitter to to view my cameras on 4 tv's. So far so good.

My setup is Shaw satellite, my Gica steamer, and Sony bluray. Fed through a Yamaha ysp 5600 sound bar and a hdmi splitter( 1 out to tv and 1 out to Cable matters hdmi) I used a Cat 7 (10meters) to the receiver and then hdmi out to Optoma projectors . I had all hooked up and just hit the reset button on the transmitter and voila 1080p 60hz. Very easy. Now the ugly hdmi cable is not longer under the rug. Oh I drilled two holes thru the floor board to run the cat 7 cable.

OK, finally one of these sets that WORKS out of the box.I've tried three different versions of this balun. My ex-phone subcontractor got me turned onto this technology - except he couldn't get it to work with the new CISCO box that was supplied by my telco. The baluns, also purchased on this site, would support the ethernet signal/HDMI cross over but would not work for the IR control. We tried every configuration, and even had the vendor replace the units. Zip. Nada. No IR control, but I got a picture, and iffy sound.Tried another set of baluns, and they worked (sound OK, picture great) but no IR control. Troubleshot the system with the OEM and got nowhere. I wound up supplementing that balun system with additional IR control on one of my units to get it to work. This system (ordered in the midst of frustration) works STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. Hoooray!!!!This is definitely the way to go, and only one CAT cable is required between the ports. Got 1080p no sweat. Sound awesome. IR control faultless. This is the way to go!

Let me first start off by saying that before buying these, i purchased many other HDMI Cat6 extenders that were cheaper and boy did i regret that after buying these! My initial project consisted of running two cat 6 cables (from cable matters, High Performance Cat6, 23 AWG, UL Listed, CM Rated, 550 MHz ) that were connected to a CCTV DVR down a building and to the second floor to a TV. The distance was about 130-140 feet. I purchased HDMI cat 6 extenders from brands like Monoprice ($59), Sabrent ($39), and Portta ($17) which i had some laying around from other projects. Monoprice claims to be working at up to 196ft and Sabrent claims to be up to 200ft. That was not the case for me at all! Both Monoprice and Sabrent would show "no signal" on the TV, there was absolutely no connection, and this is at 130-140ft mind you. I even tested multiple units since i ordered more than one, still nothing. So i thought what the heck, let me try these cheap $17 Portta extenders (98ft range) while im waiting for the new ones to arrive and see if they show anything AND to my surprise, they actually had a signal!! However, it was all purple and distorted with noise and lines, and the image was almost non recognizable, so i had to keep looking and was now willing to spend extra money to actually get something that works.I came across these Cable Matters HDMI extenders and bought two. They came a day later and i installed them and they worked perfectly! The image is excellent (CCTV monitoring) and the overall quality and build of the units is superb! The units are very robust and come with mounting brackets so you can easily mount them on a wall, or use double sided adhesive tape if you don't want to drill any holes. Packaging is also very nice and organized and makes the product feel very high quality. The great thing is that they only run on one Cat6 cable compared to the cheaper ones that required two cat6 cables going from extender to receiver. So if you're looking to run cat6 over 100ft in length, i would STRONGLY recommend these because as i mentioned before, the brands claiming to go up to 200ft did not even do the job for me at 130-140ft. Also, my experience may differ from those looking for audio and perfect movie image quality because in my situation, audio is not needed and image doesn't need to be perfect 1080p therefore i can't make any guarantees about that. Although, if you read some other reviews, people claim that it has very good image and audio quality over longer distances. Besides that, don't make the same mistake i made, spend a little extra and you'll get what you paid for. Hopefully this review helps prevent the same mistake i made. Buy these, don't think about it! It'll save you time and headaches in the long run.

Researched several hdmi extender and hdmi switch options, especially those on monoprice. During construction of our home, in desired tv locations, I ran multiple cat 6 / rg6 cables to a central location to ensure I had options. Already with 5 directv receivers I did want not to add more dtv receivers but still wanted several more locations such as the deck, garage and master bath to have tv. Given the price of hd baseT or other single cat 5/6 options I wanted something more economical. I had tried a too good to be true cheap option before and had no success. I came across these newer hdmi over single cat 5/6 with tcp/ip capability to share a single signal/transmitter across multiple receivers/tvs via gigabit switches. As I did not need to view different programs on the tvs (in fact during football season I wanted the same program on the garage and deck tvs) this solution seemed to be exactly what I needed. I was somewhat skeptical but figured I would give it a shot. I ordered this package which included 2 hdmi cables as well, and I also picked up an extra receiver for a second tv location. It worked instantly when I connected the first tv directly tx to rx (about 100ft cat6 run). The IR capability also worked perfectly. I then tested the second reicever with same results (40ft cat6 run). I then tried both tvs via a gigabit switch I had picked up...fail. It seems the only way to contact tech support is email ... But they did respond after a couple days. After a couple exchanges (not quick to respond but they did respond) it was determined my switch was 'smart' and had QOS and this requires a dumb/unmanaged switch. They recommended a Trendnet gigabit switch that is about $20/25 for 5/8 port versions. It arrived tonight and solved the problem! Both tvs display the signal and pass ir signals no problem. The picture quality is more than acceptable (not perfect) and my only complaint is that on some channels/program types (live sporting events) the frame rate or something is just a bit different looks less 'natural'. I can't verify for sure but it does seem able to both 1080p/720p signals independently and I haven't tried both tvs on different settings at the same time. Again, this is not my home theater and for about half the price of an hdbaseT option I have HD picture on 2 tvs, picked up the needed switch, and could still add almost 2 more receivers (will be adding soon now that I have it working) for a total of 4 tvs for the price of one hdbaseT solution! If you are ok with the same source on multiple tvs, want good but not flawless picture, and the simplicity of using a single cat6 cable with ir capability do not be concerned with this solution .. It works as advertised!
