Got this to lighten the load in pack for AT thru hike and trips closer to home. No need to buy or lug fuel canisters- they're even dead weight when empty. I use wood wherever I can and Esbit tabs when wood prohibited. Much prefer wood. Yes it takes your full attention to monitor and feed wood to keep fire going but that is a plus to some of us.I backpack to get away from instant everything and not having to think for myself. Starting and maintaining a fire is a good skill and rather satisfying. Once you have open flame cooking skills this stove is great. If all you need is to boil H2O for pouch meals or cocoa it is great too. I recommend a pouch for it as it does get sooty. They sell a pouch I made my own from ripstop nylon with velcro to close. So pack doesn't get sooty. Awesome stove so light you'll hardly know you're carrying it. Little pricey well lots but titanium lasts a long time and quite durable. Love using it on the trail.

Voiceover Guy got it right: In a championship grudge match between the German-made Bushbox and the USA-made Emberlit, the Emberlit is the winner by a TKO. I have both of them in titanium and, although they both work well, the Emberlit is easier to take apart and put together because it doesn't have those fussy little corner metal protrusions that stick out as featured on the Bushbox. The metal "bumps", for lack of a better word, tend to catch and hold up the disassembly. On a cold day -- with frozen fingers -- I'd rather not be fumbling around with it. The Emberlit has none of that. I suppose that once you used the Bushbox umpteen times, the disassembly would go almost snag-free but I still like the slightly larger Emberlit. The big selling point of the Bushbox, however, is the price point. During a deep discount sale, the snafu with those metal bumps might be overlooked/forgiven to save thirty bucks. Make no mistake, the Bushbox is a great little stove -- and the delivery charge is minimal from Germany with excellent service and accessories available. One nifty accessory is a middle plate that allows the joining of TWO Bushboxes together. Double the output and twice the stovetop area! Both of the sizzling hot competitors in titanium are light, light, light -- make your pick based on price or performance. You won't go wrong either way.

Got to stick with three stars because one of the side pieces requires an extreme amount of force to get it to lock into place. That alone would only give me reason to knock it down to four stars, but the little cloth storage bag is a very cheap light-colored cottony affair. the bag is probably sufficient, but would benefit considerably from a more stout fabric in a darker color. Also, and I don't see way to avoid this, the perforated cross bars do bend very easily so care must be exercised with these two pieces when they're not installed. In terms of performance, I must say the stove does a superb job of burning sticks down to a fine ash. It does require near-constant attention, but will burn even somewhat damp sticks with a little bit of effort. I got this stove as a fail-safe backup to my ETA Packlite and also to use when I just want a little bit of fire light and heat without the full up effort of a campfire. With no pot or pan on top, sticks that are just a few inches taller than the stove create a very nice foot-high flame.

I bought this stove to pair with my Heavy Cover Ti Mil style canteen, cup and lid. It fits behind it in a molle pouch perfectly. With the combo I can heat water and cook using an alcohol stove, solid fuel tabs, gel and of course organic material. The stove was a little difficult to assemble the first few times, but now clicks together nicely. Frankly I prefer that to one that gets loose and wobbly in use. It is very well thought out and designed. It can be used as shown in the photo, or you can move the bottom solid plate up to the top position, (the slot below the Ti stamping) for solid fuel tabs to have the proper spacing for efficiency. You can use it with the plate with holes in the upper position to cook over a larger fire and place coals under and around the stove.A very versatile and lightweight stove that will fit in any day hiking pack, camping gear load out, and emergency prep gear. Gives multiple ways of having fire and works well with all.

Before i got my hands on the Ti Bushbox I did have a concern as to the thickness of the plates...( couldn't find any references to its thickness)but once it arrived and I had assembled the unit I had nothing to worry about. It is very well made, sturdy and easy to assemble. IF I had to change anything... I would increase the thickness of the two pot supports, as they do bend a little when fitting and removing....Or use the S/S ones. Oh one more thing... The white cotton bag looks very pretty when brand new and also a very snug fit, but not very practical when out in the field. Overall I really like it.

This is a high quality well designed little stove.I read a couple or reviews that said it wasn't well finished etc but as this is titanium it's not as shiny as stainless steel so perhaps that was what the reviewer had concerns with because IMHO the finish is excellent. It assembles and disassembles well and works very well with wood or a hexamine tab.I've never had experience with this type of stove before, only with an Optimus 123 and Trangia so wasn't sure as to what to expect from this one but it's very good and works perfectly for my use which is to use as a lightweight hiking stove when fly fishing in remote mountain streams. I think I'll be leaving my Optimus 123 at home a lot these days and that is high praise for this little stove.
