Tips For Daily Maintenance

  1. Avoid using any harsh chemicals or detergents. These can strip away the seasoning and leave your griddle press vulnerable to rust and corrosion. Instead, start by wiping off any excess grease or food particles with a paper towel or cloth. You can also use hot water to help loosen any stubborn bits.
  2. Drying the burger press smashburger thoroughly with a clean towel before re-seasoning your meat press for griddle.
  3. Then, apply a thin layer of vegetable oil or melted shortening all over the surface of the steak press. Be sure to get into all the nooks and crannies.
  4. Preheating your oven to 375°F and place the grill weight press on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Bake for about an hour, then turn off the oven and let the grill press for smash burgers cool completely inside.

This is a very well made Cast Iron Burger Press. I am giving it 4 stars because i am not a fan of the grooves and the handle, though sturdy, gets hot pretty quick. When smashing beef patties into burgers, the raw meat tends to stick into the grooves. The remedy would be to put a piece of parchment paper over the patty ball first. I didn't leave it on the grill and only used it to press smash burgers. that being said, it was not that difficult to use and keep from getting to gummed up. I will continue to use it.
