Fabulous. Finally an alternative to Starbucks French Roast. Strong flavor , pretty oily, freshly roasted. I grind and do pour over every morning and it makes a fantastic, strong coffee.

This is a wonderfully robust coffee.I sometimes drift away and try other brands, but keep coming back.Yes, there are other coffees that I enjoy, but this matches up for value and flavor.

Decent coffee but overpriced, price went up >$15 since I started to buy. Costco has French Dark Roast 2 x 2.5lb for a total of $36.

This coffee has a wicked roast, it tastes and smells strong, and helps me start the day. I've tried other coffee at 2X the price and not found anything that competes. We brew ours in a Ninja coffee machine. It's great coffee, plus great value, and it doesn't need much fancier praise. I try other beans but come back to this. This is well-roasted, more than most beans. Experiment with your water to beans ratio, especially if your coffee maker does both pots and single-cup serving sizes.

This is not as strong as the Italian bold roast but it is so smooth and flavorful. Good price.

*UPDATED REVIEW* After further experimentation with the water/coffee ratio, I discovered that I needed to use more coffee-to-water ratio rather than less to eliminate the bitter aftertaste. Once I found the perfect recipe for my electric percolator, I now really enjoy this coffee.I love coffee -- strong, flavorful, European-style coffee. I always grind my own coffee beans, and I only perk. I was so excited to try this brand because it checked off so many boxes for me: the superior Arabica bean, dark roasted to a (hopefully) deep, satisfying flavor. At its best, dark roast coffee should have a heavy body with low acidity and deep, sweet flavor notes. Unfortunately, this coffee disappoints on most counts. The bean does have a dark, slightly oily appearance, and upon opening the bag, I was treated to an enticing aroma. However, the end product resulted in a mediocre, slightly bitter coffee with a strong, weird aftertaste. I experimented with different grinds and amounts, but nothing yielded anything close to the expected result.
