HISTORY

Bont Skates was founded in Sydney in 1975 when Inze Bont, a recreational short track ice speed skater decided to fiberglass the back of his leather speed skates to gain more support. Bont quickly became the world's largest producer of ice speed skates and then branched out into inline speed skates, quad speed skates, roller derby skates, and long track speed skates. Bont was the first footwear manufacturer to use exotic material like fiberglass in 1974, Kevlar in 1986 and Carbon Fiber in 1989, and the first to use heat moldable resins and thermoplastics. Bont was also the first company to use adjustable ice blades and remains the world's largest producer of speed skates and custom speed skates.

Just put these on today, so can't speak to how long lasting they are, but they are definitely firm. Seem to be fast and good grip. Will update this review as I know more.Okay, it's been 2 months and ~200 miles now and I'm convinced these are the best wheels ever. Fast. They have been super grippy, even on wet pavement. Wear has been good. After 200 miles my front wheels measure 99.6 out of 100 mm, and my rear wheels measure 98.7. I did notice a slight molding problem on one of the hubs that was prevent the bearing from seating perfectly, but I was able to scrape that out and it was fine.It's now been 9 months and approx 1500 miles and these have been the most amazing wheels I've ever skated on. Grippy. Fast. As with other brands, my 90mm wheels cracked and had to be replaced. But all 6 of the 100's are still going strong and have worn down very little. (My skates each use three 100s and one 90). I think one of the rear wheels measured at 95.5, and the front 98.5 or so. Completely amazing for 1500 miles. Probably time for a new set...
