HISTORY

Bont Skates was founded in Sydney in 1975 when Inze Bont, a recreational short track ice speed skater decided to fiberglass the back of his leather speed skates to gain more support. Bont quickly became the world's largest producer of ice speed skates and then branched out into inline speed skates, quad speed skates, roller derby skates, and long track speed skates. Bont was the first footwear manufacturer to use exotic material like fiberglass in 1974, Kevlar in 1986 and Carbon Fiber in 1989, and the first to use heat moldable resins and thermoplastics. Bont was also the first company to use adjustable ice blades and remains the world's largest producer of speed skates and custom speed skates.

Worth every penny, has the ability to clean the toughest of bearings, very small in size, made cleaning bearing a breeze and fast, very well built.

I use good, high quality bearings that cost an arm and a leg so I want to keep them up. I'm pretty lazy so I drag my feet on cleaning and oiling them a lot. I have tried other devices and was seriously considering a sonic jewelry cleaner after watching an league mate perform miracles with the crunchiest set of bearings I've ever seen. I opted for this instead because it's a little cheaper and super portable. I can't complain! It's slower than a sonic jewelry cleaner would be - I have to do each bearing individually instead of tossing a few in at a time but it is a lot faster and effective than shaking them around in a cup of solvent. The device looks and feels well made and I'm not too worried about throwing it into my tool bag when I travel

I purchased this tool to clean my inline skate bearings. This is a really great item to have that makes cleaning my bearings much easier.I love using this thing as it makes the whole process of cleaning my bearings take no time at all.Simply mount your bearing to the tool, turn it on while it is dipped in your cleaning solution, run it for 10 - 15 seconds, remove the bearing.Works great as intended. The only downside is the cord to plug this in is rather short. I wish the cord was a little longer than it currently is.

I was curious about the Bont skate bearing tool. Having purchased Bronson G3 bearing for all the families skates, I get left to clean them periodically. When cleaning out bearing from several sets of skates any help is welcome. The Bont tool is very pricy for what it is. One could rig up a similar device to work off an electric drill. That said the Bont bearing tool is very easier to use and it is really effective at cleaning skate bearings. It is quite effective, however finding the right container to hold the cleaning agent or solvent/degreaser is the problem. The Bont cleaning device is not that deep, so one cannot use to deep a container to put what ever liquid you are using to clean the bearings. A the spinning causes a vortex in the liquid (for me 99% isopropyl alcohol) raising the level and spilling over it the container is not fit for purpose. For the price Bont should supply something in the kit.I personally have moved to using an old ASDA own brand deluxe horseradish glass jar. I do not have to use to much isopropyl alcohol and the top is curved from the walls to the jars neck so the vortex caused by spinning does not come over the open lid.The device really speeds up my cleaning chores, so for me the expense was well worth the effort. Had I just been cleaning my own skate bearings I would have said it was a waste of money.
