INSTALLATION
Add a little grease to the end of the pin and use a hammer or C-clamp to hit the pin onto the locking ring.

I had never heard or seen a hammerlock shackle before but can guarantee I would have purchased them sooner if I had. These went on my '17 Silverado 2500HD. They are heavy duty and the powder coating looks nice on them as well. I'm not sure what problems other people had with installing them as I've read countless reviews of people saying they mauled them and beat on them for hours getting them in. I used a regular ball peen hammer and it took no more than 3 or 4 minutes to have them both installed. I did not have to grind the pin down and the first one I didn't use any oil on but the second one I did but I didn't notice a difference. The locking pin was extremely tight and did take some hitting with the hammer but not waling on it. It did scratch the powder coating just a little but I'm sure they are going to get scratched up from use so that doesn't bother me one bit. If I had used a piece of wood behind it rather than the hitch it would have been perfect. All said and done I will be getting another pair for my other truck. The one thing that would be nice is color choices like silver or blue. An excellent value and is going to make hooking up safety chains so much easier.

Works well on my 2018 Silverado HD. Make it easier to hook safety chains. Applied small amount of grease on inside of lock collar and install was as easy as pie with a large c clamp. Would buy again. Highly recommended.

Using on f250 2022 can hook up trailer emergency chains no problem now
