This post is exactly what I needed for installing my solar lantern. I realize that is not the intent of this post, and that it is made for creating a glass and steel railing, but here is another excellent use.The post is very solid (stainless steel), but beautifully painted black. It comes with some heavy duty screws for securing into cement, but I ended up using smaller screws to affix to a wood base, that I then covered with soil. There is also a neat little matching base cap, that goes over the top oft he screws so that the post looks amazing at the bottom.Another thing I want to mention (and I took a photo of this, too)is that it comes with a thin strip of foam intended for using in that long divit or ditch that runs lengthwise down the post. This strip of foam is intended for making sure that the glass butts up against something soft and semi insulated, rather than the stainless steel: very nice addition. An excellent balustrade post. Exactly what I needed. Ten out of ten.

I bought this for a glass guardrail. I needed one post at the end of my guardrail because there is no wall to anchor the glass to. This rail descriptions tells you it will hold a 10 mm or 12 mm piece of glass but that's not true. Maybe if they sent the rubber bumpers they show in the picture to hold the glass securely in the post's channel then that would be true but instead they sent a cheap rubber strip to attach to one side of the channel and it does not accommodate a 10 mm piece of glass. If we want to use this for a 10 mm piece of glass or even a 12 mm piece then we will have to try and find some rubber bumpers to glue inside the channel otherwise the glass will just wiggle around and be damaged inside the channel of this post or even just fall out. How much more would it have cost if they'd actually included what you really needed to use this properly? Just wow. Pretty unbelievable that they would send you a nice stainless steel post then cheap out on the one piece that's really necessary to use this correctly. It is pretty unusable as is. We'll need to hunt down a rubber bumper for the channel. The rubber bumper shown in the picture.
