This is a 4 oz tube of hardener for body fillers, boat hull putty or epoxies. The tube has a reusable screw on cap. Use this to activate the hardening chemical reaction for body fillers and epoxies. The cream hardener is easy to squeeze out in measured amounts for mixing with the fillers.Would recommend this to anyone.

Legend says you should use a filler hardener that is close to the color of your paint.Supposedly if you use Red hardener and White paint it will bleed out and show as a pink spot in your paint, and will do the same type thing for other color mismatches.I have never seen or experienced this, but I use the different color hardener just in case.The Red hardener is pink when fully mixed with the filler, therefore this Black hardener is grey when mixed with the filler.It works like it should.

It still doesn't turn the body filler a pure black color. It is a bit gray. However, after painting with a clear coat, the pigment turns black. Which is the look I was trying to get.

I have a couple of large jars of filler, one that is designed for auto bodies and another for repairing wood. Over the years, it seems like I run out of hardener long before I run out of the filler and that is why I was interested in this tube of hardener. I tested it on my filler and it worked. The fact that it is black rather than red is a minor annoyance since my body putty is already gray.

I'm not a construction person and I bought this thinking it was a one part solution for filling gaps. It is not. You need two parts and it does not indicate that anywhere in the description or in the pictures. It caused me a lot of grief however that is not the products fault that I didn't know what I was doing so I am not going to ding it. However it would be nice if they would indicate it's actual use in the description or mention that it requires two parts.
