This helmet is hard to beat for the price. Very comfortable, and a perfect fit. Would definitely buy again.

Only bike helmet I’ve found to fit my head. Bell sizes are true, unlike some of the other name brands. Well done.

Great value on a great helmet. My wife has had one for awhile and we ordered another for my son so that he stops borrowing hers. In addition to the great price on discontinued colors, what welike about it is:-MIPS-Fully adjustable straps (more and more helmets are coming with straps that are sewn where they come together under the ears, which doesn't allow for full adjustment front-to-rear)-Fully in-molded shell that extends all the way around the bottom, which extends the life of the helmet considerably especially when used by kids who leave them lying around.

Can't go wrong with a Bell 4Forty for MTB'ing. Has been a great helmet for a while for Bell, the MIPS feature is a must, and it is comfy. The sweat strip above the brow actually works and routes sweat away from your eyes. The airflow is really good, the visor is actually useful. Highly recommended.

Like: lightweight, great strap system, good lookingDislike: Looks a bit big (probably due to the MIPS rating), MIPS sticker on back is really hard to remove without damaging the helmet finish. This helmet holds up the BELL name very well. They basically last forever.

We ordered this helmet for my husband to wear when riding his new e-bike because his old mountain bike helmet is outdated and not comfortable at all.The first thing we noticed when my husband removed this helmet from the retail box right after it was delivered was the visor....it was completely misshaped and bent up! (see photo). The box is fine. It isn't damaged so we're thinking the helmet was either packaged that way, or the box had been opened at Amazon and dropped or run over(?)My husband needed the helmet the next morning so he decided to try to reshape it with some hot air, like from our hair dryer, which can work if the dryer has a hot enough setting. Ours wasn't hot enough so he used our heat gun that he's used in the past for building radio-controlled planes with monokote. The key to using a heat gun effectively is not to hold it one place for too long.He did a great job...you can't even tell the visor was damaged (see photo). The helmet fits him really well and is comfortable. We would have rated this helmet at 5-stars had it not been for the damaged visor.

I really like the fit of this helmet. Most bicycle helmet manufacturer descriptions do not address the rider's head shape. I have found that most of them are designed for a round head shape and an intermediate oval shape at best. Describing the head shape, and manufacturing the helmet to it, is a common practice with motorcycle helmet manufacturers. With motorcycle helmets, I have what is described as a long oval shaped head. By hat size, I wear a 7 5/8 to 7 3/4. I measure at about 61.5 centimeters. Because of the oval shape of my head, most L/XL bike helmets showing a max of 62/63 CM ride high on top of the sides of my head. My head is not fully protected by the helmet. If I force the helmet down with a tightened chin strap, I get the common upper forehead burn within an hour of riding. This helmet fit great out of the box. The wheel adjustment mechanism at the rear of the helmet allows you to tighten it to an exact comfort and fit in both directions (front to rear and side to side.) I tried on numerous L/XL helmets in stores before taking a chance with this one based on other reviewers comments. It is not just a good fit for "big heads," it is great for people with the long or narrow oval shaped head issue.

The helmet fits really well. Sizing guide was surprisingly accurate. I always considered myself to have a larger head so would normally have ordered a large, but trusted the sizing chart which recommended the medium and it was right on the money.I got the copper color and it looks great. A very nice, matte metallic coppery-orange. Sizing dial on the back is a breeze to use, even while riding. The sweat “gutter” channels the sweat away from my forehead, as promised. Really cool feature that you don’t appreciate until you have it. The visor is easily rotatable (maybe a little too easily), but it works well.Overall - highly satisfied with the 4forty. It’s not the cheapest MIPS helmet out there, but the comfort, range of adjustments, and the nice looks make it a great value!
