Avid is owned by SRAM since 2004, and designed and developed in the US. I chose these as a low cost build option and am not disappointed. They work well with the Shimano Tiagra flat bar road shifter I used for this build.

I am a purchasing consumer. I am posting an honest review and I am not receiving anything in return for posting this review. No complaints at all. Perfect fit and function with my old gary fisher 3-by. The bike came OEM with silver Avid levers that I never liked the looks of. These in all black are a better match for the rest of my bike. Shipping was slow from China, but for the price I am OK with that. Order placed August 12, delivered September 9. So be prepared for a long wait if you order these.

the alloy is hard. Widening the spread to fit onto ‘drop’ style bars (Randonneur, Campione, Maes) WILL break them if you try to do it too quickly. Despite the fact that I broke one, the quality is great and the price is low.

Used these on a flat bar conversion. They work great and seem to be pretty sturdy. They are not full size four finger levers. They are the shorty levers.

I got these for a singlespeed project. My brakes are standard calipers, which is not linear pull. These work fine but I don’t have to squeeze hard to get them to work. Not really ideal as the lever is out there but whatever. The price is incredible for the quality these are. Not racing material, but good enough for cheap solid levers.

Simple good looking levers. Much better than comes on lower end bikes at less than 20$ is a bargain. Silver color is a nice pop. Reach and tension adjustment screws work well and shape is good for a multitude of hand sizes. Would use again.

Inexpensive upgrade to kids bike. Fit perfectly and easily installed. Upgraded my 8 year old's bike with these plus 7 speed rapid fire shifters (versus the twist shift style) plus some inexpensive ergonmomic handle bar grips. Different bike, different, more confident and competent rider. Whole upgrade was less than $50 and worth it.Avid make first class brakes and have a great 'trickle down' of theor technologies and processes from the higher to the lower end products. If you are looking at these as an option- I would go with it. You wont regret it. Safe riding!

I'll be honest, when I first unpacked these I was skeptical. They are so light. I had originally planned on replacing both brake levers to keep the bike the same on both sides but I have waited so I could try these out and ensure they are okay. After using these for over a month I'll have no hesitation swapping the other one out the first chance I get. I recently made a 10-mile ride on a mountain biking trail with several steep declines and a narrow path with trees. I had no problems at all with this brake lever. It has held up very well. This isn't an issue for me, but the set screw on the part which attaches to the handlebar is on the front directly toward the rider. My OEM brakes were on the bottom. I was worried this may interfere with shifting but it did not. If it would interfere with your shifter then look for a product from this manufacturer with a different set screw location. Overall, I'd highly recommend the Avid.
