spooled the line on the reel , casted it into the swimming pool to count the drop on the line ( to note the swimming pool is 14 feet deep)cast the line into the water and it JUST LAID THERE ON TOP , FLOATING TO THE WORLD? THEN WITH A LITTLE HELP WITH A 1 OZ SINKER UNDER WATER THEN RELEASED THE SINKER AND IT FLOATED TO THE TOP IN ABOUT 8 SECONDS. SO MUCH FOR THE AVENTIK SINKING LINE? THE REEL IS PERFECT BUT THE LINE STINKS?

I am constantly in search of budget fly fishing equipment. This sinking Aventek line cost me around $10 and it casts really well and sinks quickly. Retrieves nicely with no tangles or kinks in the line. Also bought a $20 Aventek reel with it so I just swap reels rather than spools. At these prices we can afford it. The reel is just as good as far more expensive ones that I've owned. Remember that unless you are fishing large species , you don't need a fancy fly reel. Just something to hold your line and this Aventek does the job. I spray my lines and reels with Food Grade Silicone Lubricant ( available on Amazon) to keep everything running nice and slick and keep the lines shooting far and fine.

I was a bit skeptical at first to order a Chinese made fly line but I have to say that they have come up a long way. The lines I used to test were limp, sticky and were easy to get dents. The line I received had reasonable stiffness and was very slick. The taper is a classing taper for saltwater fishing. I used it for a one week of intense fishing in Cape Cod for stripers and it performed very well and I caught over 200 fish on it. Time will tell how long it lasts but since I only use floating lines in Florida, this is a good investment for me and I did not feel I was using an inferior product. In the past, I was using sinking lines from Cortland and I actually think this line performed equally or slightly better. I used to test fly lines for tropical flats fishing for bonefish (Teeny, SA, Orvis, Rio, Snowbee etc.), so I feel that you can trust my review. At the time, I also tested line from China and they were poorly made and had numerous defects on the body. They were sticky and had the tendency to tangle. Not this line. Oh, and the welded loop was great too. Hope these lines will bring the cost down to the other more known brands.

Nice sinking fly line. Description said charcoal grey and it arrived black and is fast sinking 5IPS which is great for what I wanted, just wasn't sure since the description was vague. Already caught several nice trout!

Advertised as a sinking line, I bought the black, with fastest sink rate. It floats! This is NOT sinking line and the description amounts to false advertising. If the price seems too good to be true...Plan to return the line. GRRR! Bummer, my return date expired at the end of January. People are not typically using fly lines in January in Idaho.
