My Oru Kayak came with a paddle made from aluminum that is flimsy and heavy. I wanted something lighter and stronger and received several recommendations for the Aqua Bound Carbon from fellow kayakers. This has proven to be perfect for me: super light, feels very strong, (gets a bit hot if left in direct sun, paddling gloves will resolve), and while not cheap, the price is quite good for a full carbon paddle. The ferrule allows for almost limitless feathering if that's your thing, and the texturing makes it super easy to keep a grip on, even with wet, bare hands. Overall extremely pleased with this item.

This is the one you are looking for. I push off rocky beaches, sit on the shaft to push up off the seat, leave it in a hot car, break ice, it is durable as well as being one of the lightest paddles you can buy at a featherweight 1.8 pounds. I have had it two years and my Paddle Logger app says I’ve used it for 400 miles. I tried using my old 4 pound paddle one morning and I can’t imagine ever wanting to use a heavy paddle again.

Happy with my purchase of the Aqua Bound string ray paddle. It's super light and perfect for touring in my kayak. Best - it's made in Wisconsin USA !!

Finally got to use my paddle a month after purchase, cracked in two places first time paddling on the left paddle , return window is expired so nothing will be done , for the $200 cost I suggest you look somewhere else for a better quality paddle or a company that will stand behind the products they sell for others. Aquabound would send them another paddle , they guarantee the workmanship

I think this is a superb paddle at its price point. It's very lightweight and rigid. The locking mechanism is ideal giving you the ability to choose the angle in 15 degree increments and hold stable without any wobble.

Paddle is very lite. After paddling for hours I have no fatigue at all from the weight of it. The posi lock is very secure and I love how you can lock in different angles for feathering. Being able to break down into two pieces is great for transportation also.

Nice, lightweight paddle with one really nice feature: an easy to adjust feature that allows you to change the angle of each paddle -- so one paddle can be at one angle and the other paddle at a different angle. Takes about 2 seconds to change the angle and simply clicks (solidly) into the new angle. I was happy to get the longer version of this paddle for my paddle board. If you are using a kayak paddle for a paddle board, and not a kayak, the longer length works better because the angle to the water is so low. Well-constructed and arrived a day early.

This is a great light weight paddle! It replaced my aluminum shaft paddle and what a difference it makes. The String Ray paddle goes through the water much smoother and the blades don't flex like my aluminum one did. This is not the lightest weight carbon paddle on the market but for the amount of money you pay it's worth buying.
