This product is more reliable and much better than the one I had. The picture quality is also much better.

I have a U series camera from the same company and was using it directly with my computer to record live feed. Although it is a little complicated but doable and worked great. The only problem I had was I used to turn off my computer occasionally, and/or windows update was creating an issue. So I thought to switch to NVR for the convenience. I can't stress more that I am completely satisfied with this. In the initial days I used to monitor the feed and recording to make sure it is working fine, now I have developed enough trust in it that I don't check it quiet often. I use HDMI out to a monitor and love the UI it has. Also, I can see the disk usage, use the camera pan, tilt, zoom feature directly from the NVR. I'd definitely recommend it to friends.

Wiring is a challenge most times for any installation, but device setup was plug and play, and operation good for a geek, so to speak. My inlaws got the hang of it after some training.

I bought an H series 8 channel PoE and I was able to connect existing cameras and navigate the menu easily. I switched to this 16 channels as I wanted to be able to expand considering the easy of use and functionalities. I came across this U series and seemed an upgrade. The software is completely different from the H-series and less friendly and was not able to re-connet the cameras that were working with the H-series. Anpviz has a quite good customer service chat on WA and they shared material and information. The H series is for H-series camera or Hikvision, U -series is for U series cameras. I did not know the difference and will return to get a 16 channels H-series
